The EEA report on 'Urban adaptation in Europe' underscores the pressing necessity to adapt European cities to climate change and offers a comprehensive overview of the measures they are undertaking. It serves as a valuable resource for informing climate adaptation policies across Europe, spanning from the EU to the municipal level. According to the report, european cities are addressing climate change through a diverse array of effective measures, including urban planning and building regulations. Moreover, cities are progressively embracing nature-based solutions, which feature in 91% of the local adaptation plans analyzed in the report. These solutions prove effective for cooling and water retention in cities while offering additional benefits such as recreational space and pollution reduction.
