The accessible tourism market is worth $13.5 billion in Australia and represents upto 24% of the population. With figures like that, tourism operators can’t afford not to be catering for accessible visitors. But more importantly there are other benefits. Accessibile visitors who have great experiences are much more likely to repeat visit, they travel in groups with carers and family members and they also tend to travel more in off peak or shoulder seasons. Accessibile visitors also contribute to positive outcomes in staff morale, job satisfaction and of course the visitor benefits from incredible visitor experiences which can lead to word of mouth promotion. Im proud to have been part of an organisation that has won a Tourism Hall of Fame award for our accesible visitor experiences. Catering for accessible visitors doesnt have to be hard or expensive. It all starts with a decision to do something. Getaboutable run great information sessions and this webinar is a great - and free - opportunity to learn more about an essential part of strengthening your organisation and your visitor experience.

#Europan #E17 Winner in Nantes (FR) -- Matière Première -- by AS: Alan Benoit (FR), Tom Barbier (FR), Paul Riffault (FR), Thomas Catti (FR), Jean-Benoît Boccaren (FR) – architects urbanists "The theme of Europan 17 questions our ability to transform this monofunctional and artificial hospital site into a fragment of a diversified city through a regenerative approach of living environments, considering the challenges posed by the climate emergency. This methodology translates into an approach focused on the requalification and enhancement of an 'existing' entity, uniting both the urban and geographical context, the inherited built heritage, and the ground. By re-establishing a conducive environment for life in an endogenous manner, the site becomes the raw material for a desirable and sustainable future." #europan17 #livingcities2 #architecturecompetition #urbanplanning #urbanism #landscape #competition #architecturaldrawings #archilovers #axonometrics #nantes #france

#Europan #E17 Special Mention in Eibar (ES) -- Mutualism -- by AS: Yannick Marquès Schroeder (ES), Marina Gracia Montaner (ES), Sandra Juan Sanchez (ES), Guillem Florit Bosch (ES) – architects "The interpretation of the site as a enclave between the city and nature was essential. Thus the first question arose: can these two infrastructures mutually benefit? The project preserves the existing structure: slabs and pillars. While the artifact, conditions the whole complex as an entity that relies on the factory building and its landscape to provide it with what it lacks." #europan17 #livingcities2 #architecturecompetition #urbanplanning #urbanism #landscape #competition #architecturaldrawings #archilovers #axonometrics #eibar #españa

#Europan #E17 Special Mention in Eibar (ES) -- Berrelikatu -- by AS: Carmen Benítez Merino (ES), Juan Mateos Corona (ES) – architects "It is pertinent to understand architecture as a device capable of deploying mediations and weaving relationships between existing actants. Understand the construction process beyond a building process, as a technical mediation procedure. This interpretation offers a criterion for the analysis of modern architecture that transcends stylistic frameworks." #europan17 #livingcities2 #architecturecompetition #urbanplanning #urbanism #landscape #competition #architecturaldrawings #archilovers #axonometrics #eibar #españa

#Europan #E17 Special Mention in Eibar (ES) -- The Hinge -- by AS: João Pedro Lemos Salsa (PT), Maria Dimitroudi (GR), Zoi Tzika (GR) – architects Contributors: Matteo Bassi (IT) – architect, Olegk Stathopoulos (GR) – 3D designer "The main issue addressed in the project is the revitalization of obsolete urban areas through a transdisciplinary approach that considers social, environmental, cultural, economic, and urban aspects. "The Hinge" creates connections within the site, transforming a barrier into a porous structure. On one hand, it reconnects with nature, and on the other, it promotes community integration, flexible living arrangements, inclusive public spaces, educational and economic opportunities, ultimately enhancing the residents' quality of life." #europan17 #livingcities2 #architecturecompetition #urbanplanning #urbanism #landscape #competition #architecturaldrawings #archilovers #axonometrics #eibar #españa

#Europan #E17 Runner-up in Eibar (ES) -- HYPER-TXONTA -- by AS: Gonzalo Pena Sancho (ES), Victoria Collar Ocampo (ES), Jon Garbizu Etxaide (ES), Diego Sologuren Martin (ES) – architects "Nowadays, urban environments have evolved into dynamic entities. Consequently, we posit that no singular system or dogma can offer a panacea to the intricacies of a multifaceted problem. In our Hyper-Txonta approach, emphasis was placed on mitigating the introduction of new constructions and their associated, foreseeable carbon footprints. This was achieved through the revitalization of the extant industrial real estate park in Eibar, leveraging Hyper-objects across various scales." #europan17 #livingcities2 #architecturecompetition #urbanplanning #urbanism #landscape #competition #architecturaldrawings #archilovers #axonometrics #eibar #españa

BIG NEWS on the ARCHITECTURAL COMPETITIONS front! See below:
We are honored to have been featured on Malcolm Reading Consultants' (MRC) architectural radar and selected as one of five international firms invited to submit designs for an exciting new project outside the UK. While details are under wraps, we can say water will play a role—though it won't be the main focus this time! Our inclusion as one of MRC's rising stars is a testament to our recent work, including the new museum in Yanbu, KSA, the public sports center in Aldershot, and the floating Water Lily project in Norfolk. MRC has a history of organizing prestigious competitions, such as the recent Dallas Museum of Art, which saw 154 global submissions and culminated in a shortlist featuring top firms like David Chipperfield Architects (UK) and Diller Scofidio + Renfro (US). The competition was ultimately won by Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos (ES). Other notable MRC competitions include the Adelaide Contemporary Museum in Australia, won by Diller Scofidio + Renfro (US), the Museum of London, won by Asif Khan, and the UK Pavilion for Shanghai, won by Thomas Heatherwick. A big thank you to the Baca team—your world-class work continues to make waves! #architecturalcompetitions #redseaglobal #baheej #Architecture #ArchitecturalCompetitions #DesignInnovation #SustainableDesign #UrbanDesign #ArchitectureCommunity #DesignExcellence #ArchitectureAwards #GlobalArchitecture #ArchitectsOfInstagram #BuildingTheFuture #CreativeDesign #ArchitecturalDesign #ArchitectureNews
