NATO Allies Invest in European Tech Innovators
A consortium of NATO allies has confirmed the first tranche of companies awarded funding as part of the group’s €1 billion innovation fund.
Launched in the summer of 2022, the NATO Innovation Fund (NIF) aims to invest in technologies that enhance defense capabilities. The fund, backed by 24 NATO member states including recently joined Finland and Sweden, has directly invested in four European tech companies.
The investments include Fractile, a London-based computer chipmaker focused on accelerating large language models, and Germany's ARX Robotics, known for designing unmanned robots for heavy-lifting and surveillance. British manufacturer iCOMAT, specializing in lightweight materials for vehicles, and Space Forge, a Welsh company developing in-orbit semiconductors, also received funding.
“Enabling access to strategic technologies is key to securing a safe and prosperous future for the alliance's one billion citizens,” said Andrea Traversone, the fund's managing partner.
NIF has also partnered with venture capital firms Alpine Space Ventures, OTB Ventures, Join Capital, and Vsquared Ventures to further support deep tech investments across Europe.

1moOne thing that may help is to start trading in actual information instead of aspirational, politically driven figures. If people beleive that there is a factory in Ukraine that is actually building 100,000 drones per month, they may stay away feeling the needs are being met here. And we shoold talk about the way Azov alone is requesting 300 drones per day and can’t get them all.
