Aria Hotels is set to revolutionize travel in Greece by investing in a network of eVTOL vertiports, aimed at facilitating faster and more sustainable travel between Greek cities and islands. The initiative, set to launch in 2026, is part of a EUR 50 million investment to promote sustainable tourism across the country. The network will consist of four eVTOL vertiports covering Athens, the Southern mainland, and the popular Aegean islands. These vertiports will feature electric charging stations and passenger relaxation areas, requiring minimal space and reducing environmental impact compared to traditional aircraft infrastructure. This development will enhance the accessibility of Greece’s numerous tourist destinations. Aria Hotels, known for its portfolio of 70 boutique properties across Greece, will become one of the world’s first hospitality groups, and the first in Greece, to directly lease and manage ten BETA TECHNOLOGIES ALIA eVTOL aircraft. This is made possible through an agreement with LCI, a Libra Group subsidiary. In 2022, LCI placed financial deposits for 125 of Beta’s Alia eVTOL, which they plan to add to their leasing portfolio. These aircraft are designed to transport five passengers and a pilot, with a payload of 635kg, a maximum range of 250 nautical miles, and a recharge time of under an hour. Makis Pantazatos, CEO of Aria Hotels, expressed his enthusiasm: “We are proud to make the first-of-its-kind investments to allow Greece to benefit from new technologies supporting ecotourism. This investment furthers Aria’s driving mission to help more travellers experience authentic Greek culture, history, and unparalleled and diverse beauty.” Manos Kouligkas, CEO of Libra Group, added, “Through the innovative work of Aria Hotels, in partnership with our aerospace subsidiary and leading global aviation lessor, LCI, we will support sustainable tourism and the economic growth of Greece and the Greater Eastern Mediterranean region in hospitality, aerospace, renewable energy, and beyond.” This groundbreaking development is poised to enhance the accessibility of Greece’s tourist destinations, bridging the gap between the mainland and its islands. By constructing these vertiports, Aria Hotels and its partners address the need for innovative solutions to reduce carbon emissions, noise pollution, and enhance operational efficiency, thereby supporting sustainable economic growth and local communities. 🌍 Sustainable Tourism: The Only Ethical Way Forward Mass tourism has significantly impacted our local ecosystems and communities. From unannounced invasions into private spaces to skyrocketing living costs and declining quality of life for locals, the consequences have been dire. Sadly, the profits from mass tourism often end up in the pockets of large travel and tourism corporations rather than benefiting the local communities where they belong. In this sea of unsustainable options, authentic, community-based tourism curators struggle to stand out. Likewise, travelers seeking immersive cultural experiences and genuine connections with local communities face difficulties distinguishing between truly ethical, community-based tours and those that only claim to be. At Immersive Trails Global, we are committed to solving this pressing issue. Our platform meticulously handpicks and lists partner curators who craft sustainable, ethical, and community-based cultural experiences worldwide. We aim to cut through the clutter of mass tourism, making it easier for travelers to connect with authentic and responsible tourism providers. Immersive Trails is more than just a business; it's a movement with a heart. We strive to ensure that tourism remains sustainable for travelers and local communities, with the benefits of tourism flowing back into the development and well-being of these communities. Let's redefine tourism together, focusing on empathy, ethics, and community growth. Join us in supporting sustainable travel experiences that genuinely benefit the places we visit and the people who call them home.
