#AI_Act un premier guide donnant les directions à emprunter à partir du 1er Août 2024. "The AI Act is built upon a risk-based framework, with specific requirements for high-risk and unacceptable-risk AI systems. The Act requires companies to classify the risk level of their AI systems to determine the corresponding regulatory obligations, and sets out various categories or tiers of AI systems that each carry different obligations" OpenAI CEPIC https://lnkd.in/d_VnsW4q

Some of the very topics we will discuss in our upcoming series on AI... The European Union is already addressing some of these challenges with their new EU AI Act. That said...can you see some challenges with the enforcement of some of the provisions within this legislation? (see the prohibited AI Section)... More to come...let's have a discussion and come together as a Community! As a Community, we have the best chances for success to properly prepare. https://lnkd.in/eJKdrmHT

While I do not think giving into fear is a helpful response, it can be easy to feel that science fiction is involved with some of the potential uses for AI and/or the concerns for some uses that Developers and Data Scientists could potentially create, perhaps inadvertently. Reviewing some of the EU AI Act prohibitive use cases is a good demonstration of that. Please see the full link below for more details of this imminent EU legislation. Prohibited AI systems (Chapter II, Art. 5) The following types of AI system are ‘Prohibited’ according to the AI Act. AI systems (reduced for brevity please see the full article): - Deploying subliminal, manipulative, or deceptive techniques to distort behaviour and impair informed decision-making, causing significant harm. - Exploiting vulnerabilities related to age, disability, or socio-economic circumstances to distort behaviour, causing significant harm. - Biometric categorization systems inferring sensitive attributes (race, political opinions, trade union membership, religious or philosophical beliefs, sex life, or sexual orientation). - Compiling facial recognition databases by untargeted scraping of facial images from the internet or CCTV footage and inferring emotions in workplaces or educational institutions, except for medical or safety reasons. - ‘Real-time’ remote biometric identification (RBI) in publicly accessible spaces.

The EU AI Act came into force today. The act should help to protect children who are particularly vulnerable to exploitation and at risk from AI systems. It will only do this if rigorously enforced. Let's hope it is. https://lnkd.in/eNA3qM4q.

I asked Chat GPT what it thought about this article and this is what it said: 🚀🌟 Historic moment! The EU Council has given the final green light to the AI Act, making it the first comprehensive AI regulation in the world! 🌍🤖 Key highlights: 🔹 Risk-based classification system to ensure AI applications are safe and ethical. 🚫❗️ Total bans on high-risk AI practices like biometric surveillance and predictive policing. 🔍📢 Stringent transparency requirements for AI-generated content, ensuring clear labeling and disclosure of training data. It's not wrong but I would have said it without all the emoji's!
