I'm going to take you on a walk through
the delegate pavilion here at Cop 29. We start outside
Great Britain's pavilion. And then we move on to Brazil. Most of the countries in the world
have got a stand of some kind here. Or presence of some kind here, whether that's shared with others
in the region or individually. It's a chance
to show off their initiatives. It's a chance to make a statement
about their priorities. There will be negotiations
continuing throughout this week. We've just had a very exciting
announcement by Ed Miliband that the UK's the first
to sign the universal youth clause of the NDC. And it will be interesting to see
how the rest of the week unfolds. I must confess, there hasn't been a lot said about financing
in any of the meetings that I've been to. This is the finance COP,
noone's talking about finance. So let's hope it's happening
quietly behind closed doors. Thank you.
The number of Beyond-GDP metrics can be overwhelming! Do you know your GPI from your HDI? Fortunately Annegeke Jansen is here to save us with her fantastic overview out today in The Lancet Planetary Health.
Featuring 'the WISE beyond-GDP triangle' which lets you find metrics on against three axes - Wellbeing, Inclusion, and Sustainability (the 'E' is for economics).

Say no more Naturinda Emmanuel. That’s exactly why Health Master was founded. We provide medication reminders for those with chronic conditions and offer seamless communication with healthcare providers to report complications or side effects resulting from the medicatios taken. You can also learn more about the medications you are taking, and healthcare professionals can track their patients adherence.

Yes its TRUE 🙃
But in our community 89% remind them self WHY?
1- During Pre-ART session Our counsellor remind to look at the date where the clinician need him/her to return.
2- During Registration we took demographic information which indicate, mobile number, house number, name of the household, street name, Ten cell leader etc. Through this information makes our job easier to track the client during follow-up time.
Reasons why some patients don't get refill reminders;
1. Some intentionally give in wrong phone numbers, and also don't give in those for their next of kins this may be caused by STIGMA
2. Some don't even have phones and are living alone.
3. Some are so mobile, that when time for refill comes, they have either moved far distances away from refill centers, or they are just lost to follow up especial those Farmer.
4. Some have poor health seeking behaviors.
NOTE; THIS IS A HEALTH SYSTEMS TOPIC THAT NEEDS SYSTEMS THINKING TO ARRIVE AT A SOLUTION. YOU ARE ALSO RIGHT TO SOME EXTENT.
🛎Leveraging digital technologies to improve patient centeredness of our health systems

✳️Digital technologies hold immense potential to transform health systems, especially in improving access to care, enhancing communication, and supporting patient adherence. For example, using digital tools to send reminders for pill refills to HIV patients, as highlighted in the below LinkedIn post by Naturinda Emmanuel , is a powerful way to promote better adherence to treatment and improve health outcomes.
✳️SMS reminders and dedicated mobile apps can be used to send personalized reminders for medication refills, appointments, and treatment adherence. This approach is particularly useful in HIV care, where consistent medication intake is crucial for viral suppression.
✳️Electronic Health Records Integration can track patient histories, lab results, and medication refills. When integrated with mobile technology, they can trigger automated alerts to patients and healthcare workers about upcoming refills or missed appointments.
✳️Artificial Intelligence can predict patients who are at higher risk of non adherence or complications based on their data .
✳️Chatbots provide continuous support to patients outside clinic hours, offering reminders and motivation to stay on medication.
✅️Leveraging digital technologies, we can not only send timely reminders for pill refills but also improve the overall efficiency, accessibility, and patient centeredness of our health systems.

🌍 According to the 2021 World Health Organization survey, only 45% of evaluated countries have formal agreements between their health ministries and other key sectors to address climate change risks to health. These agreements can enhance health surveillance and #EarlyWarningSystems, crucial for tackling climate-related diseases.

Tomorrow, EU leaders will have an opportunity to be bold. By expanding the European Health Union to focus on #HealthPromotion, they can pave the way for a healthier and more resilient Europe.
Leaders will convene for a #BE2024EU High-Level Conference where they'll discuss the future of the #EuropeanHealthUnion, as well as the strategic priorities for the next European Commission's health agenda. By rethinking the health union, we can address the most pressing public health challenges Europe faces.
These challenges were identified in EuroHealthNet's Foresight exercise, which brought together 35 of the most prominent #PublicHealth experts in Europe. They encompassed persistent inequalities, rising levels of chronic diseases and #MentalHealth problems, as well as the digital transition and climate change.
The common thread through it all? Our health systems need to keep people healthy as long as possible to #HealthEquity, and reduce the pressure on health systems. Not only will such investments improve people's wellbeing, they can yield a considerable positive return on investment.

I spend a lot of my job at the Wellcome Trust reading articles and stories about the increasing risks of climate change - especially extreme heat - to human health. It starts with the most vulnerable: the elderly, the young, those who are pregnant and with underlying health conditions and disabilities. It's not fun for these researchers to have to think about and publish such terrifying statistics on a daily basis. But unless we have the data & evidence to understand the impacts of climate change, we cannot design the robust and tailored adaptation and motivation solutions we need to build resilience.

Climate change poses a growing threat to public health in Europe, with heat-related mortality expected to rise dramatically, particularly in southern regions. By 2100, under a 3°C warming scenario, temperature-related deaths could increase by nearly 55,000 due to rising heat and an ageing population. This highlights the urgent need for targeted public health interventions and adaptation strategies to protect vulnerable populations and mitigate regional disparities. Policymakers must prioritize building resilience and strengthening health systems to meet these challenges. #ClimateChange#PublicHealth#Resilience
Our planet is reaching its social, economic, and ecological limits. Climate crises and ecological disasters, rising cybercrime, political conflict and polarisation, mass migration, global inflation/cost of living, LMIC debt crises and a pandemic, among other things, challenge the emerging responses for health and the healthcare goals of communities, countries, and global institutions. They are also challenging us to do better.
