“We need others to join the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, it needs to be a priority in the world. Hunger cannot wait.” – Minister Wellington Dias of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight against Hunger, Brazil. Yesterday’s #UNGA79 side event “Partnerships to catalyze action to end poverty, hunger and malnutrition” was a terrific gathering of advocates, multi-laterals and governments in support of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty to drive action on #SDG1 and #SDG2. Big thanks to our terrific speakers and co-hosts who underlined the urgency to tackle child hunger and malnutrition by scaling up and financing proven solutions. Here are our takeaways: 🤝Leverage partnerships & “#IDA21 Replenishment as a huge opportunity to finance evidence-based interventions,” said Iffath Sharif, Director of Social Protection, The World Bank 🔄 Reform finance architecture to unlock the scale of financing needed. United Nations DSG Amina Mohammed noted that the “international architecture is a vehicle with no fuel” 💰Invest in govt capacity ⬆️Scale proven solutions now – don’t wait! 🟰”There are lots of initiatives but they are all fragmented. We need urgent action collectively,” says Brazil’s First Lady Janja Lula 👩🌾 “It is critical to start with small-scale farmers, emphasize school meals and integrates maternal and child interventions,” said Minister Anne Beathe Tvinnereim, Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs The Global Alliance can drive progress across a number of these areas. World leaders must take this critical opportunity if we are to achieve #SDG2 and ensure #GoodFood4All. #ICYMI: https://bit.ly/4eaQB2C #HungryforAction World Vision BRAC
