Hurricane season is upon us and we want to ensure your business prepares for worst-case scenarios. A MetTel customer in Florida that supplies crucial First Responder equipment, knows this all too well. Before the storm, they transitioned from an outdated MPLS network to MetTel's Managed SD-WAN. This move wasn't just about enhancing bandwidth and security; it also built network resilience. As Hurricane Ian wreaked havoc with 155 mph winds and severe flooding, their network remained fully operational for the first time during a major storm. This experience underscores the critical importance of robust network disaster recovery plans. As we face increasingly frequent and severe natural disasters, investing in resilient network solutions is essential for business continuity. Starlink terminals in Florida for backup internet ahead of Hurricane Miller: As the state of Florida is preparing for the landing of Hurricane Miller, preparations are ongoing by the state to prevent and react to the consequences of Hurricane Miller. Among the measures announced by Governor Ron DeSatnis, he claimed that "Starlink internet. All counties have acces to Starlink internet devices and they can use them as they see fit" -DeSantis 09/10/2024(https://lnkd.in/egwTezs9) And indeed we can see that Starlink terminals are cited in the State Preparedness Efforts, on the 8th of October, with the quote under the Cut & Toss Ops of "Satellite internet equipment= 59 Starlink devices" https://lnkd.in/e7RTEm-w A clear example of how SATCOM connectivity has a critical role when terrestrial infrastructure might be damaged and terrestrial connectivity might not be guaranteed.
