As Europe's biggest economy, that's good news for everyone on the continent 🍽 The event attracts more than 600k visitors, boosting hospitality sector with around 1.5M additional overnight stays, more people having dinner and obviously drinks 🍻 🙏 But the most important aspect could be a psychological one: "whereas in 2006, fan gatherings primarily consisted of German supporters, this year, people of all nationalities are celebrating together. French, Slovaks, Scots, Spanish and Germans are watching the games side by side. [...]" "The positive messages and the opportunity to break down stereotypes foster a sense of community, creating an atmosphere of optimism and joy that lingers long after the tournament ends." Obviously, we'll only make full use of such a psychodological boost if we have our people strategies in place and use the current window of opportunity wo prepare for the great people shortage thats already visible on the horizon (+25% open positions vs. 2019 but at least a little less than 2022). This game called soccer 🇦🇱🇦🇹🇧🇪🇭🇷🇩🇰🇨🇿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇫🇷🇬🇪🇩🇪🇭🇺🇮🇹🇳🇱🇵🇱🇵🇹🇷🇴🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇷🇸🇸🇰🇪🇸🇨🇭🇹🇷🇺🇦🇵🇱 Teams representing their countries face each other on the pitch, fighting for victory, with thousands of people around that pitch cheering on their team and millions of people watching the game on screens; in the end, many are happy, and many are disappointed, and at the very end of a tournament, only one team cheers, all the others are somehow losers, eliminated during the tournament. And yet everyone is a winner because it is just a game, a fun game, a game that brings people together in peace since it is a game, not war, a performance competition according to civil rules that respect the other side; a game that unites more than it divides, because people treat each other respectfully, on the pitch as well as the people around coming together from so many different nations. At least the vast majority does. In this respect, #UEFAEURO2024 is a great blessing for my home country, Germany, and the continent. And to me, the tournament is more than a symbol that Europe can live in peace, joy and unity. It is real. Even it is just a game.
