Why Culture is the True Foundation of Your Brand 💼🏆 When we think of branding, many envision logos or marketing campaigns. But culture is a fundamental building block of a strong, lasting brand. It shapes not only how customers perceive your business but also how your team operates. How you work internally speaks volumes about your brand to the outside world. The way your team interacts and makes decisions is the heartbeat of your company, and this pulse is felt by everyone who interacts with your brand. Let’s look at two examples of how culture impacts branding: 🐝 Example 1: Imagine a company with a team-oriented, growth-focused culture. Collaboration, agility, and continuous improvement are valued. This company’s brand is perceived as innovative and energetic, with a focus on teamwork and partnership. The internal culture creates a brand that feels alive and draws in customers wanting to be part of that success. 🐜 Example 2: Now, think of a company with a logical, hierarchy-oriented culture, where structure and security are key. This brand is seen as trustworthy and reliable, with a focus on expertise and stability. Their brand attracts customers who value consistency and confidence. Culture isn’t just internal—it defines how your brand is perceived. Whether your culture drives team spirit or security, it shapes your brand identity over time. Any thoughts? #BrandCulture #CompanyCulture #BrandStrategy #BusinessBranding #CultureAndBranding #TeamCulture #LeadershipMatters #CorporateCulture #BrandIdentity #BusinessGrowth #CustomerExperience #TeamLeadership #EmployeeEngagement

How Organizational Culture Shapes Your Brand Did you know that a company's internal culture and its external brand are more intertwined than you might think? Organizational culture is the set of shared values, beliefs, and behaviors that guide how your company operates internally. Recognizing your company's dominant culture can help you shape it to support your brand goals. Brand is how people feel in your presence. Here's how the interplay of culture and brand works: - Value Alignment: True branding starts with your company's foundational values. When everyone is on the same page about what matters most, it becomes easier to present a consistent brand experience. - Employee as Ambassador: How employees act is a reflection of company culture. Engaged employees who embody company values naturally become powerful brand ambassadors. - The Power of Experience: Positive, customer-centric work cultures translate into positive customer experiences. This strengthens brand reputation and loyalty. - Employer Branding: A strong culture becomes a magnet for top talent. Your culture's reputation contributes significantly to your ability to attract and retain the right people. - Authenticity is Key: Companies whose actions live up to the brand promise have an almost undeniable authenticity that customers appreciate. This trust is invaluable. As a leader, you can ensure your culture supports your brand by clearly defining and sharing your core values as they relate to the brand, embedding these values into every aspect of your business– from hiring to decision-making, regularly checking that your culture and brand remain aligned, and celebrating employees who embody company values and brand ideals. By actively aligning your organizational culture with your desired brand identity, you create a powerful synergy that leads to satisfied employees, loyal customers, and a strong, successful business. #leadership #culture #branding

It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of aligning brand and culture to unlock organisational success. This transformative thinking was first introduced by Denise Yohn in 2017 with her wildly popular article in HBR, "Why Your Company Culture Should Match Your Brand," and further supported by her book, "FUSION: How Integrating Brand and Culture Powers the World's Greatest Companies," launched in 2018. Denise's work resonates deeply with my own experiences as a marketing strategist passionate about aligning technology, people, and culture: internally, your culture, communications, and engagement should all echo your brand's essence. Externally, your messaging should mirror those same values, creating a seamless experience for everyone involved. As mentioned previously in MDP MARKETING article, Redefining Branding in 2024: Embracing the Evolution of Brand Identity, a brand is not solely what a company claims it is; it is how employees and clients perceive it. It encompasses the promises made to customers and the standards upheld in meeting their expectations. That rings true for the employee experience as well. According to Denise: "If your culture and brand are mismatched, you can end up with happy, productive employees who produce the wrong results." And this is an important reminder that underscores the importance of alignment in every aspect of your business. Aligning brand and culture is not about duplicating effort, it's quite the opposite: it's creating efficiencies in having the same mindset internally and externally. I'm particularly interested in hearing how you're putting this into practice. And if you're not doing it yet, but are keen to explore the possibilities, please reach out to me - happy to chat through the process and offer some (free) advice 💠 What are your thoughts on this vital connection between brand and culture? Branding Bard's Company Culture Tips For 7/3/24: Note: These efforts usually involve capital investment on your part, but they're well worth it and usually pay off with greater knowledge and wisdom at your company. 1. Make sure that you and your staff are constantly learning new things to boost your Brand with. This takes constant training and improvement efforts at your company. Example: Use an outsourced learning service (whether in-person or virtual) to train and teach you and your staff on a regular basis. You can also have a business book-of-the-month club for all in the company. 2. It takes constant research to keep up with the trends in your industry and that includes both current and upcoming ones. Example: Subscribe to an industry-specific magazine or journal to keep up with trends. You can also consult with industry experts on a scheduled basis. 3. Keep up with the "voice of your customers" by regularly implementing market research through post-transaction questions, surveys, focus groups, keeping up with social media comments on your page and so forth. Example: Ask customers post-transaction if there's anything you can do next time to make their shopping experience even better. 4. Practice Kaizen at your company through constant small improvements that eventually add up to greater results. Try to improve your Brand by 1% on a daily basis. Make sure to involve all of your staff in these efforts as well! Example: Make a small, positive change or tweak to your company's systems and processes on a daily basis. In professional services organizations such as law firms where your people are really your "product," your firm culture needs to be closely aligned with your brand. Indeed, at Clarity we focus on building a brand culture with our clients. To get started, it helps to begin with an analysis. While you'll want to customize this to your specific organization, this questionnaire provides a starting point for evaluating brand culture strength: 1. How well can your people articulate the firms's core values and mission? 2. How well does the organization's leadership consistently exemplify the desired brand culture? 3. How are the firm's brand values integrated into hiring, training and development programs? 4. How strongly aligned are your people with the firm's brand, its values, purpose, and characteristics? 5. How clear and consistent is the visual representation of the brand across all materials and touchpoints? 6. How frequently and consistently is brand messaging communicated internally and externally? 7. How empowered are your people to make decisions that align with the organization's brand culture? 8. How well do your clients' perceptions of the brand align with the intended brand culture? 9. What mechanisms are in place to gather feedback from your people about the brand culture? 10. How adaptable is the firms's brand culture to changing circumstances while maintaining its core values? What have we forgotten?

Brand CULTure: The crucial perspective for every organization's brand strategy. 94% of entrepreneurs and 88% of job seekers say that a healthy work culture is vital for success. Poor brand culture will influence and anchor into market and consumer perception. Failure to understand the importance of this and its resulting negative impacts can be dire - and it all stems from 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯 the organization. Good leaders can recognize and feel when their company’s culture begins to take a negative turn. If steps are not taken to mitigate and resolve the root issues, high employee turnover, employee dissatisfaction, and a toxic work environment are imminent. All of which, in turn, negatively influence the customer experience. A positive brand culture intrinsically and 𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 attracts like-minded employees and consumers who share the same values and beliefs. This crucial perspective should be part of every organization’s brand strategy. In our Principal’s words: “Culture gives companies a purpose. Like a ripple effect, this purpose influences everyone from the company leaders and employees all the way out to the customers.” -Ruth Netanel Defining your organization’s beliefs and value structure - and ensuring all team members live by those tenets as they are ‘The Face’ of the company - helps build an unbreakable brand culture. We understand how essential it is to develop a strong company culture to benefit your company and its consumers. At IDealogic®, we develop your organization’s core beliefs and value structures. We infuse those elements into the brand, creating a meaningful foundation that your staff and ideal customers can support and rally behind.
