Congrats to all the Hatch Award winners. Having work good enough to submit is incredible and winning a Hatch bowl is Herculean. It was a great night and the energy in the room stuck with me on my drive home. My 3 takeaways:
1. There's just so much talent in this city. Hatch has existed for 63 years and it punctuates that Boston has been home to great creative for a long time. When you see all that talent in one room though, spanning decades and across agencies and brands - it's so impressive.
2. I'm so lucky to work in this business. While I am not on the creative side of it, I am always in awe of the power of great creative. Being part of a team that does work together to help a business grow, create change, move people-- maybe it's not solving all the problems of the world-- but most of the time it feels like it is doing some good. Sometime projects were/are game changing, even life changing - and that magnifies the gratitude. I'm happy I didn't become a weather forecaster.
3. It's more than work. Lance Jensen said in his acceptance speech of the Jack Connors Lifetime Achievement Award that what's special about our industry isn't just getting to be a part of developing great work, it's the friendships that are born because of it. Exactly. 460 people from so many different agencies and brands, people returning from many other cities to be there. It felt more like a reunion. What a special community we have.
Cheers to a night that brought all that together! Be well everyone.
Wow.
We're feeling a little overwhelmed (in a good way!) by the incredible night we had with 460 of you in the New England marketing community, at the 63rd Hatch Awards.
Thank you to everyone who joined -- some from all over the country -- to celebrate each other and honor some legends in our industry. First there was the first ever Jack Connors Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by icon Mike Sheehan to recipient Lance Jensen. Later, the In-House Agency Award was presented by Rachel Houk Seeger of BCBS of MA to MassMutual's 258 Creative Group. And the coveted Best of Show went to GYK for their work with Sallie Mae.
In between another 95 gold, silver and bronze awards were presented to some incredible agencies and brands.
And the night was full of merriment, networking and reunions at the pre and post party!
What a night! We hope you all enjoyed yourselves and can't wait to see you again next year.
Thanks to our Hatch Committee Mark Bappe, Vanessa Thomas, Spencer Deadrick, Julie Granahan-Heger, Nick Bontaites, Chris Jennings, Travis Robertson, Michael Pilato, Emily Nollet and Amanda Roberts
