Six months ago, I parted ways with Google (not by choice, but life has its own plans!). Since then, I’ve been on a personal journey of exploration, reflection, and new beginnings. I’ve had the chance to travel, go on dive trips, spend precious time with my husband and daughters, pick up sewing (still figuring it out!), and reconnect with friends over long hikes. In the midst of all that, I’ve also made time to learn and grow. An ‘aha’ moment hit two months ago on a flight back from France. I watched Interstellar, and its powerful message about climate crises and humanity’s survival really struck a chord. It made me realize that the future of our planet is a cause I deeply care about, and one I want to figure out where I could make an impact. So, here I am, I’m stepping into a new chapter and making a mid-career shift into #Sustainability! For me, meaningful change first starts with understanding where one stands—by first measuring our carbon footprint and identifying where emissions come from. This is how businesses can take actionable steps, be transparent in their sustainability efforts, and drive real change. On that note, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve recently earned my ISO 14064 certification in greenhouse gas emissions reporting & verification. And, I’m also incredibly excited to be partnering with a dear friend, Teng Ky-Gan together with Vincent BoonSeng Lim at Eco Sustainability where we will work together to help organizations of all sizes with sustainability reporting and green consulting! Radical Transparency: What's one unexpected challenge you've faced during mid-year impact reviews, and how did you overcome it? 🤔 We all face unexpected hurdles. For instance, as a fresh new studio, we struggled with developing new business in the first two quarters. With over 13 years of experience across numerous industries, we were used to referrals and word-of-mouth. And when that dried up, we had to pivot, and fast! It prompted us to adapt our strategy last month, reassess our why, revamp messaging, and lean into partnering exclusively with social impact organizations to help build a more just, vibrant, and equitable world. Big shout out to Brad at StartOut for the critique and help! 🙏 The result: We instantly saw a huge increase in calls (literally) overnight with new partners, and teammates excited to wake up every day to tackle some of the most pressing needs in society.
