Safeguarding in Bowls: Creating a Safe and Enjoyable Community for All Ages!
At the Bowls Development Alliance (BDA), we’re dedicated to safeguarding and creating a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for everyone to enjoy the sport of bowls. In collaboration with the National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of bowls, we’re committed to supporting affiliated clubs with resources and guidance to ensure our sport is safe and enjoyable for all ages.
Our Safeguarding Manager plays a vital role by leading strategic initiatives, developing policies, and providing guidance to Counties and clubs. Through online learning sessions and in-person training, we've focused on critical safeguarding areas, including: The Role of the Safeguarding Officer Bystander Behaviour Banter vs. Bullying Safer Membership Categories of Adult Abuse.
To keep our action plan relevant and impactful, our Safeguarding Steering Group – including the Safeguarding Leads from each NGB and a Coach Bowls representative – meets monthly to discuss progress and future development areas, all aligned with CPSU and ACT frameworks.
Together, we’re ensuring that every club has the knowledge, resources, and support to make bowls a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
