This past week, I personally posted a job ad on Linkedin for my new game project, looking for (1-2) game developers to join us on a flexible part-time basis. Because the listing is for an anonymous company, the job posting had to be promoted. And I paid Linkedin a minimum (CA$8/day) to promote the job ad. I was skeptical when Linkedin told me at the time of posting - "estimated number of applicants in one month: 4". Result? I am more than happy about the progress so far. 4 days later we got 296 applicants and 1106 views at the time of writing. After reviewing all I think we have a very strong candidate pool - so I am to close the job ad for now. Expect to start interviewing very soon. I expect that we would be needing additional help in the near future in fields like programming, game design, level design, 3D modelling and animation, localization, UI, production and player community. All member will have to be part-time and remote (or hybrid when it's time) to begin with. Learning: You will still be able to review the applicant list for the closed job post on Linkedin if you chose to collect the applications on LinkedIn.

An AR specialist who uses his freelance earnings to travel places. Meet Avinash Yadav. #HumansOfGaming A hardcore, experienced Unity developer who is ready to work on mid-core and AAA titles. Avinash became interested in game development when he participated in robot championships in college because of a passion for robotics and IoT. He noticed how young minds built and presented video game projects, which made him curious about game development. After graduating, Avinash, set with a drive to build games, entered the industry by linking hardware to Unity for a company called Yolo Gaming. Moving ahead, he worked as a freelance game developer and later landed a role for an ed-tech company where he worked on gamifying education as a senior technical consultant. He had no plans of settling for less, so Avinash started upskilling himself in AR/VR development and advanced his Unity skills. This led to him landing the role of a Unity 3D developer at Hestabit, where he worked on 2D and 3D games. Currently, Avinash is building AR applications, leading a team of 6 programmers, has 5+ years of experience, and has published a game on the Play Store. But something was missing in Avinash’s life! He always aspired to build a hard-core game and work for a AAA studio. Knowing where he lacked, he started looking for upskilling programs that could advance his game programming skills. Testing technique. In some of my previous posts, i wrote something like experimenting or testing techniques. My aim has been to develop a pipeline that would fit what I think is the animation situation in my country. The situation from how I see it: * juniors: like myself, we have many young people with zero, little to mid level animation skill, who are interested in animation in general. * seniors: we have very few of them, they are very skilled, experienced and could be relatively considered masters ( they are also expensive ). The pipeline I've developed / developing: * Would require more juniors than seniors, which fits our situation. * It should be relatively less expensive, because you're not trying get many seniors. * Although it requires more juniors, it doesn't sacrifice quality or speed. Problems : * I have not yet tested it with a squad, and I may find some little unseen hiccups, that may not be discovered while testing alone. Next: * I'll create a short film or maybe a couple of them, with an aim to test something more extensive and a little more complex. (Because I will be working on it during my free time, I'll try to record how long it took by taking note of the time spent working on it.) #innovation #creativity #careers
