In our ESL Program, we include differentiation in instruction to enhance the metacognition process by catering to diverse student need and learning style. Through varied instructional approaches, our teachers create opportunities for learners to engage in metacognitive practices at their own pace and level. We are finding that a personalized approach fosters deeper understanding, motivation, and autonomy. This, in turn, helps adult ESL learners to become more effective and self-regulated. Furthermore, these methods not only facilitate comprehension, but also promote student retention by offering relevant engagement and participation opportunities. How do you overlap metacognitive strategies, differentiated instruction, and student retention in your ESL program?

Why I’m Never Going Back to In-Person Teaching After 15 years of teaching in classrooms, I’ve made the decision to never go back. Here’s why: As in-person teachers, we are often overworked, underpaid, and undervalued. The energy and effort we pour into preparing lessons, managing classrooms, and going the extra mile for students don’t always match the compensation or recognition we deserve. But online teaching? It’s a different story. ✅ Flexibility to create my own schedule ✅ Opportunities to work with students worldwide ✅ Better pay when you know how to position yourself ✅ More time for creativity and building resources that truly make a difference I’ve found that online teaching allows me to reclaim my time and energy while delivering high-quality education on my own terms. Teachers, you are worth more than you’re often given in traditional classrooms. Don’t be afraid to explore the digital world, create your own opportunities, and earn what you’re worth.

Good afternoon! 👋I have some lovely new people in my network, so I thought I’d reintroduce myself and share the types of things I post about and why. I’m Naomi and I live in South London with my husband and 2 children. Back in 2021, I switched careers - from school teacher to trainer. I left the classroom to find a more flexible work life and therefore be more present for my young family…and I haven’t looked back! 👀 With my new found flexibility, comes a couple of different work hats… 👒Hat no.1 - Public Speaking and Presentation Skills trainer. You’ll often see me posting about speaking tips or presentation techniques. This is because I believe that being able to speak confidently and effectively in front of an audience, can dramatically improve your social and professional life! People look at you as a potential leader and so many more opportunities become possible. I run workshops and trainings for businesses, schools, sixth forms and individuals who want to FEEL GOOD about speaking in public. Whether this is giving presentations, performing well at an interview, teaching a class or pitching one’s self at a networking event - I help those I work with feel calm and confident when they speak, and develop speaking styles and techniques to suit both them and the situation. 🎓Hat no.2 - Phonics Trainer/Consultant and Early Years enthusiast My experience as an early reading and phonics leader, allows me to train teachers to successfully teach and implement phonics in their setting. I’m interested in how we can help all children be ‘school ready’ when they begin their education journey, so you may see me post about sound awareness play 👂🏼, developing fine motor skills 👌🏽and general tips for preparing your child for school or pre-school 🚸 I run workshops for parents who are completely phased by phonics, and would like it explained, along with ideas for how to introduce play that develops learning skills. Follow this link for sessions in May https://lnkd.in/eDSXGp8W If you’d like any more information, or to chat about how we might work together in the future, then please get in touch. Let’s grab a ☕️and get to know each other more. #publicspeakingtraining #presentationskills #developsoftskills #professionaltraining #funwithphonics #childdevelopment #earlyyears #preschoolactivities

Teacher: "Why did you submit such a low-quality assignment?" Student: "Because I didn't know how to improve it." The teacher raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "And why didn't you ask for help?" The student hesitated before responding, "I thought you would think less of me if I couldn't do it on my own." With a gentle smile, the teacher dispelled the fear. "In seeking guidance, you show strength, not weakness. Asking for help is an essential part of growth and learning. Remember, it's better to seek knowledge than to settle for mediocrity." Instructions: Importance of Work-Life Balance for Professionals
