Spoke to a hiring manager today who has a refreshing approach to recruiting National Account Executives… (homebased 🤔) They arent obsessed with buying in identikit experience to plug a hole in their team. They’re offering a fresh opportunity for someone to step up into a bigger role with P&L ownership that would be ideal for someone looking to move on from field sales or commercial admin. They laid out: ⭐️What you will learn in your new role (spoiler alert - National account management..) ⭐️What accounts you will cut your teeth on (delivered wholesale and buying groups) ⭐️Why their management approach is supportive and gets the most out of their team (honesty, integrity and embracing challenging thinking) ⭐️Gave examples of team members who are thriving (one followed them across two companies!) ⭐️Gave example of why the company culture fosters loyalty and works smart (as well as hard) ⭐️Painted the big picture on where the business is going and why you want to be there (investment in people and product) And only after all this, did they lay out what they needs from their new hire. This hiring manager really gets it. If you want people to take interest in your company, you need to make their needs a priority. This is your life after all. If you’re a Field Sales Exec or Commercial Exec stuck in admin and are not getting any support to reach the next level, drop me a line. I’d love to discuss this opportunity with you. It’s homebased with a day a week in Kent. Drop me a line here or email me on [email protected]

🔥 HOT TAKE!! 🔥 The difference between sales and customer success is quantity vs quality. To be successful in sales, its a numbers game. To be successful in customer success, the focus is relationship building. -------------- ☯ Obviously, I understand it's not black and white. For some companies, a sales roles requires quality interactions, including pre- and post- sales service, client onboarding, training and demo, and thorough follow-up. In that same breath, some customer success roles involve cross-selling, upselling, and hunting for referrals through customer advocacy. 🤖 The line can become quite blurred. It really is dependent upon the individual role, company, and industry. 💪 For me personally, I truly acted as a customer success manager for my clients, though my roles were labelled sales/account manager. Were those additional steps and time taken with each client required? No. Did it payoff, grow my book of business, and provide numerous promotions throughout my career. Absolutely. Luckily, I worked for a company that supported an individual's selling style. So while my counterparts may have just been in sales, I truly was in customer success. I may have not had the same quantity of transactions, but my quality of transactions were that much greater, surpassing numerous goals and metrics. 🔍 The tough part is showing this passion and dedication through basic text on a screen. If you are hiring and looking for someone who really goes above and beyond for your clients, I'm your person! Feel free to send a message, I'm open to chat. #customersuccess #clientsupport #customerservice #sales #service #accountmanager #technology #saas #onboarding #training #recruiting #recruiter #womenintech #relationshipmanagement #teamwork #retention

What is a Key Account Director, really? They're the top of the food chain for individual contributor sellers. But, the term is often misused so let’s get clear on the definition 👇 A true Key Account Director (or Key Account Manager) is an uber seller at a big, public tech company with a large portfolio of products. They have no direct reports, but they command influence across the entire organization. They steward the relationship with one huge customer (think $10B and up). They set the strategic direction of the relationship. They spend their time aligning at the executive level. They keep other reps from going rogue and damaging the relationship. They arbitrate disagreements between reps competing for comp credit on big multi-product deals. They often work personally with celebrity CEO’s to negotiate huge eight and nine figure deals. It’s often thought of as a ‘destination role’ and sellers who achieve it stay for years. The typical path is: - AE - Strategic Account Manager - Mega Dealer - Key Account Director I had that role at Oracle, and it was quite a ride. It’s a whole different world, a unique experience as a seller. I’m telling you this to open another potential vision for your selling career. P.S. Exploring Key Skills for Account Managers 📈 Last week, I looked at Account Management, stressing the importance of cultivating long-term relationships, finding swift solutions, and understanding the hints of language and culture in our customer relations. Now, I wonder about what other skills an Account Manager should master. Expanding the market and overcoming the art of selling is fundamental, but how do we accomplish this? To achieve market growth and successful sales we should : target marketing campaigns, thorough market research to dig opportunities, foster robust client relationships, deliver exceptional customer service, maintain competitive pricing, attentively monitor industry trends, and continually refine our offerings based on feedback. Also, effective communication, expert negotiation skills, and a profound understanding of our customers' needs and preferences are essential. Would you appreciate more detailed suggestions on any specific aspect? #AccountManagementSkills #MarketExpansionStrategies #CustomerCentricApproach #EffectiveCommunication #ContinuousImprovement
