When assessing your financial reporting and accounting processes, start by making a checklist of what the organization is currently doing, and what it needs to be doing – e.g. are you following a month-end close procedure, do you have a process for reconciling inventory, do you have the dashboards you need to track KPIs? Evaluate the current state of each process on your list, then outline the expectations for the future state, defining what a successful system will deliver.
