It’s easy to work with a handful of preferred suppliers. Complexity comes when you strive to deliver at the same quality standards while engaging new vendors. If you look deeper, this complexity brings significant benefits: 🧠 Market Intelligence: Engaging with a diverse range of suppliers enhances market intelligence. You gain insights into local availability, costs, and unique offerings that can lead to better decision-making and competitive pricing. 🤝 Local Community Impact: By partnering with local vendors, we help stimulate economic growth and improve the well-being of local residents. This strengthens community ties and promotes sustainability. 💪 Innovation and Flexibility: New vendors bring fresh perspectives and innovative solutions. They can introduce novel products and services, which can differentiate us in the market. Moreover, having a diverse supplier base increases our flexibility, allowing us to adapt quickly to market changes and disruptions. 🔴 Risk Management: Relying on a broad network of suppliers reduces dependency on a few sources. This diversification mitigates risks associated with supply chain disruptions, ensuring more stable and resilient operations. Last year, TULIPR® directly contracted over 300 suppliers (excluding those through our platform). ▪ 300 vendors means engaging with 1 new vendor per day (onboarding, contracting, alignment, coordination, payments) ▪For every 1 contracted vendor, our team spoke with 10+ That's a lot of conversations. A lot of data points. A lot of insights. It’s also a lot of opportunities to strengthen our supply chain, foster innovation, support local economies, and build a more #resilient and flexible operation. Engaging local vendors isn't just about meeting standards; it’s about setting new ones and driving progress in our communities. #suppliers #marketing #communityimpact

Preferred suppliers make economic/business sense. Unless we're talking about muffins and 🎈 🎈🎈, select your preferred vendors for the right reasons not the wrong ones. 🔻 Wrong reasons: Already onboarded They “know us” and we “know them” We have a personal relationship It’s easier this way Cost is not an issue for us ✅ Right reasons: They can provide market intelligence (industry dynamics, challenges, benchmarks etc. They are competitive in cost, time and quality; They (!!!) maintain their competitive edge with every project; They are responsive and address issues proactively; They are innovative in their approach. #marketing

𝓐𝓲𝓻𝓯𝓵𝓲𝓹: 𝐅𝐥𝐢𝐩 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 “𝐒” 𝐒𝐢𝐝𝐞, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 "𝐒"𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐢𝐝𝐞 Today, category management is typically addressed by services vendors who bring their expertise to help you define a category, understand the market dynamics, put together a sourcing strategy, identify the appropriate suppliers/vendors, put together an RFP, put together a should-cost model, identify the evaluation criteria, and the process for selecting a supplier. All by the billable hour. And the majority of today's category management solutions are either savings estimators or specialist category sourcing platforms that package the expertise of a niche consultancy on a set of categories in to a SaaS offering. Not general category management solutions for strategic sourcing. Hence the need to single out 𝐀𝐢𝐫𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐩, which is a new offering in the Source-to-Pay+ space that offers a new generation of analytics-backed category intelligence that allows a sourcing team to not only identify categories of opportunity, but identify where that opportunity is and what vendors they should be looking at. Divide and Conquer 👑 Working with different vendors can feel like managing a diverse group of friends. Some are your go-to for the big stuff, and others are perfect for just hanging out. That's where vendor segmentation comes into play. Vendor Segmentation is a smart strategy organisations employ to scale their business successes. Usually, vendors are segmented into the following Tiers: 🎯 𝐓𝐢𝐞𝐫 1: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 (𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬) They're the VIPs – offering innovation, competitive edge, and critical support. These relationships are less transactional and more transformational. 🔑 𝐓𝐢𝐞𝐫 2: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 (𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐰) These are the backbone of your daily operations. While they might not redefine your business, they are crucial to keep everything running smoothly. 🛒 𝐓𝐢𝐞𝐫 3: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬 (𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐁𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬) Here we have the vendors that are all about making life easier. They provide commodities in a quick and efficient way. 🔧 𝐓𝐢𝐞𝐫 4: 𝐍𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐞 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐬 (𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬) These are engaged for specific tasks. They might only join you for a project sprint, but they bring a specialised skill-set that's crucial when it counts. It's important each Tier Vendor receives the right attention, management effort and resources. But this is not a one time task. Segmentation should be be reviewed on a yearly basis as your strategy evolves. Now, I’m curious: ➡️ How do you manage and differentiate your IT vendos? Hit 👍 "Like" if you resonate with this and 🔄 "Repost" to pass on this strategy! PS: Comment with the Tier you think is toughest to manage – let's compare notes! Vendor portals are a game changer for procurement teams. (but not enough of you know about them) A vendor portal creates a central place for you to collaborate with your vendors. It empowers them. It frees you of constant comms. It creates proactive vendor relationships. Not reactive email-strewn relationships that feel transactional 🤮 Not to mention that compliance is drastically enhanced. Are you making use of a vendor portal?
