Humans (and animals) across time and space experience the same basic emotions - things like joy, anger, and fear. But when conducting research, these emotions must be interpreted based on the historical, geographical, and cultural contexts of participants. Listen to this talk by Mariana Melo-Vega, PhD for examples of these contextual ingredients: https://lnkd.in/eAMq8uKy #mrxpros #emotions #mrx

Enjoyed my conversation with Michael Follett and Emma Jowett at todays event hosted by Integral Ad Science . Some telling signs, when asked, about 79% of the audience in attendance said they had ‘worked with’ attention metrics, but on probeing only 1 attendee kept their hand raised when asked who has had adopted ‘attention’ as part of their standard ‘always on’ approach to measurement. This means ‘Attention’ metrics are still very much in the testing phase and although attention is a hot topic and on many people’s minds and indeed the agendas of conference, even 5yrs in, it’s still got a way to go to becoming commonplace. More work needs to be done to establish the brand and business effect of attention optimisation for media, to demonstrate their superiority over existing digital KPIs which still have a hold over the ecosystem, and perhaps more done by industry bodies to create clarity around the differing metrics appearing in the space. I fear ‘attention fatigue’ will set in before long, but the reality is no one has really scratched the surface yet. Even the basics of optimisation away from ‘inattention’ are not yet widespread, and given the challenges with MFA and fraud, this is frankly baffling. We need to move faster and make more progress.

In the world of events, the difference between a good experience and a great one often comes down to the AV team behind it. Having an in-house AV team isn’t just convenient—it’s a game-changer. At the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, our in-house AV team is tuned in to the venue’s unique needs and dynamics, ensuring that every event runs seamlessly. Why does this matter? An in-house AV team, familiar with the space, anticipates potential challenges and customises solutions to create flawless experiences. They know the exact sound levels needed to fill the hall, the lighting nuances that enhance presentations, and the setups that bring out the best in every room. This isn’t about bringing in external providers who may not understand the subtleties of the venue; it’s about a team who already understands what works—and more importantly, what doesn’t. This deep-rooted expertise transforms events. From immersive soundscapes to dynamic visuals, and from seamless streaming to effortless interactions, our AV team is dedicated to making your conference shine. They don’t just provide AV services; they elevate the whole experience, leaving attendees inspired and engaged. In-house AV isn’t just about technical support; it’s about peace of mind. For anyone looking to make a lasting impression, the choice of an in-house AV team isn’t an afterthought—it’s the foundation of a memorable event. At RCPE, we’re proud to offer this level of excellence to every organiser who trusts us with their vision. #EdinburghEvents #AVSolutions #ConferenceVenue #RCPE #EdinburghConferences #EventProfsUK #ScotlandEvents #InHouseAV #EventPlanning #MemorableEvents Convention Edinburgh - Edinburgh Convention Bureau
