I'm really looking forward to attending the London Resi Conference tomorrow for what should be an informative discussion on how partnerships can accelerate housing delivery and with increased institutional investment, what can we expect from the private rental market (BTR, SFH, MFH) over the next 12 months. #affordablehousing #singlefamilyrental #privateequity

In the ever-evolving landscape of Australian real estate, the recent article in the AFR features insights from Colliers Robert Papaleo, Colliers National Director Capital Markets on the Australian government’s recent overhaul of foreign investment rules, effectively lifting the ban on foreign ownership of established housing. This paves the way for international capital to participate in the existing BTR market. This change represents a pivotal shift in the property market dynamics and is timely given the heightened institutional interest in the Australian BTR market. The BTR sector, a staple in the US and Europe is poised for expansion in Australia, promising to address the pressing need for rental housing. This policy update not only reflects the evolving landscape of the housing market but also underscores the importance of foreign institutional capital in bolstering Australia's housing economy. For a comprehensive understanding of these, read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gVjuJPwk #ColliersResidential #Colliers #Australia

Today we are at the SPACE+ ALT/RESI UK conference, and this morning there have already been some very interesting insights. In the opening investment panel the discussion centred around when to invest, with the consensus being that the outlook for the year ahead will be mixed. Many are taking a “safe” and cautious approach by pausing, given the remaining uncertainty and looming general election. However, this is the paramount time to take stock and review operational costs of portfolios to ensure they are running efficiently and to identify savings. At Fjeld Consulting, we use our years of experience and centralisation at scale to reduce operational expenditure by around 25% to boost profitability. Now is the time to start discussions. #buildtorent #coliving #pbsa #property #altresiuk #investment #operations

We recently sat down with Dora Stilianos, Commercial Real Estate Partner at Baker McKenzie and a regular collaborator with MODEL. Here’s what she had to say: 'The sustainable BTR market in Australia is evolving rapidly. Investors should be mindful of recent government policy changes designed to spur investment in Build-to-Rent projects. These changes include tax reforms aimed at alleviating investor burdens and streamlining planning processes, especially with re-zoning efforts in NSW and Victoria to utilise under-used government land. Investors are advised to stay well-informed about tax structures and legislative updates to fully grasp the market's potential. Understanding the sustainability commitments of BTR projects is crucial, not just from a legal standpoint but also for assessing risks, performance, and financial returns.' ‘MODEL offers a fresh perspective on BTR and urban living. Through a lens of regenerative decarbonisation, MODEL champions sustainability, community, and well-being.’ Dora's insights shed light on the intricate relationship between legal expertise and sustainable property development. At Baker McKenzie, their dedication to facilitating innovative and sustainable solutions helps pave the way for projects like those at MODEL, reshaping the future of urban living. #buildtorent #sustainabledevelopment #decarbonise

Private capital accounted for half of all commercial real estate transactions in 2023, according to the 2024 Knight Frank Wealth Report. This shift, coupled with the positive turn in wealth creation and the investment preferences of #UHNWI's, drives real estate outcomes. It also signifies the growing importance of alternative investments, like sustainable and regenerative farmland, to private investors and wealth managers looking for diversification and sustainability in their portfolios.
