Super excited to be part of the SEGUS Inc "When you think Db2" webinar series ! Tuesday 23rd April 9am EST I'll be presenting on The Open Mainframe Project #zowe, alongside Ulf Heinrich. Free to register and attend, and loads of great info about #zowe, especially for #IBM #Db2 folks out there wanting to know how to work with certificates, what's going on with #VSCode, how to use the Command Line Interface to issue SQL commands, and much much more. https://lnkd.in/e6unVKPq

Successfully Migrated 45 TB heavy transnational database from IBM AIX to Exadata X10M-2 with minimal down time, Using xtt transportable tablespace with rman incremental backups. Performance is three-four times better compared to IBM Power 10 and Exadata X10M-2. Few points to consider 1) We can use Exadata ACFS mount point to be mounted on the source system as NFS in order to dump backups. 2) Consider to segregate separate backup for each tablespace as restore will work in serial at tablespace level. 3) In order to avoid initial execution plan changes and performance issues consider bringing good plans from source using STS. 4) Make sure if you application logic using sequences last_number is matching between source and target. 5) Bring statistics from source in order to avoid initial performance impact - Until exadata stats are completed and flash cache is populated. Reference documents 1) V4 Reduce Transportable Tablespace Downtime using Cross Platform Incremental Backup (Doc ID 2471245.1) 2) Migration or Coping of the Database Across Servers (Doc ID 2798913.2) Thanks for the great support from management Feras AlHathlool and other leaders. #exadata #databasemigration #AIX #rman #xtt

Another success story and successful migration of 45TB of data from #IBM #Power10 to #ExadataX10M! Customer is seeing #Exadata performance gains of 3-4x compared to #IBM Power10 and I believe this is on the low side without any tuning or optimisations! And even more important than the performance is the estimated 38% Lower Overall Costs, 20-30% fewer licenses required and massive 92% reduction in Patching Events!
