📈Workers have changed. Today, 36% of American workers identify as gig workers—up from 27% in 2016. By 2027, more than half the workforce will be gig workers. 🤝Work has changed. 1. Determine your desired monthly salary and multiply by 10. Ex. 100,000 x 10 = 1 Million. 2. Now find an employer and tell them "I can make your company make or save 1 Million monthly, but you have to pay me 10% of that as my salary, deal?" 3. Be ready and work smart & hard to deliver what's promised. It's that simple! Remember, since you're working for a business, your value as an employee (or freelancer) is measured ONLY by your capability to deliver 10x return in what they have invested in you as an employee.

As an employee, I used to think that I worked way more hours than I was paid for. So, as a freelancer, I should be better off... Well, not quite. The problem lies with me! When I offer a package for strategy or marketing services to a client, I estimate my hours. But in reality, I always end up putting in more. Why? Because I always forget: - Admin hours - Hours spent on email exchanges and phone calls - My perfectionism... (argh) - And my inability to bill my overtime hours to the client. So, Kerstin Moras, my business partner, told me to stop. Let's try a time tracker tool. The first time I tracked the hours, start and stop, I was clearly nervous... I was afraid to realize that I was actually inefficient! But then, I gradually stopped worrying about it and worked as I always had. Thanks to Clockify, we have a better understanding of the tasks that really consume our time, those hidden hours of emails, feedback, and other tasks that aren't 100% strategy or campaign related but are still very much present! Having a better view of your work hours, knowing exactly how much time each task of a project truly takes (even if it always varies), allows us to optimize our time and our future quotes! Give it a try, it's free. Have a great day!

I have had time to digest The UK Employment Rights Bill 2024 and pleased to say it includes notable reforms that extend certain protections to gig and freelance workers, recognizing them as “dependent contractors” in some cases. This new classification allows these workers to receive rights traditionally reserved for employees, such as paid holiday leave and statutory sick pay. These entitlements will be calculated based on the worker’s average weekly earnings, which marks a significant step toward improving financial security for those in non-traditional work arrangements, including freelancers and those in the gig economy . In addition, the bill’s provisions for flexible working and fair pay agreements may indirectly benefit freelancers. For instance, the expectation that flexible working becomes the default could influence client-company relationships, fostering more adaptable project-based work opportunities. Additionally, the bill establishes a Fair Work Agency to oversee worker rights enforcement, which could extend to sectors heavily reliant on freelance labor, ensuring compliance with minimum standards on matters like holiday pay and fair wages . While the bill does not overhaul freelance worker protections entirely, it signals a shift toward integrating gig and freelance workers within a broader framework of employment rights, which may continue to evolve with future legislation . But does it go far enough? And when will their be changes to the benefits and support systems thst reflect the current work patterns of the workforce?
