As the telecom industry faces a price war, operators are focusing on further segmentation and personalization. Whether it’s a premium family bundle or a more flexible plan, the goal is to truly meet the needs of individuals and families alike. This shift requires a rethink of the economic model in the telecom sector. At triPica, we’re helping telecom operators adopt innovative business models faster and cost-effectively with our flexible SaaS BSS platform, used by Bouygues Telecom in France for their Source mobile offer. 4 Steps for a Telco to Transform into a “Techco” 1. Embrace 5G-as-a-Service Telefonica’s efforts to provide developers with universal access to operator 5G networks and Singtel’s new 5G Security-as-a-Slice feature are two notable cases in point. 2. Invest in Vertical Ecosystems Etisalat UAE, for instance, is building a digital ecosystem that provides services related to grocery delivery, entertainment services, digital banking solutions, and healthcare offerings. At the same time, Indian telco company Jio launched the e-commerce platform #jiomart in 2020 to expand its services beyond traditional telecommunications. 3. Digitalize Network Management Key to making this a reality will be the digital transformation of a telco’s network by incorporating technologies and solutions like #cloud #computing, Artificial Intelligence (#AI)/Machine Learning (#ML)-based optimization, big #data #analytics , and #cybersecurity 4. Become Active Contributors to Cellular Innovation Through persistent industry collaboration, mobile operators can help ensure that proposed technologies and features are tailored to specific #enterprise #requirements. To date, #telcos are most active in the SA1 Working Group (WG), submitting roughly 17% (1.062) of the total contributions (7,481) Follow us on Kaneshwaran Govindasamy & Global 5G Evolution Click comment box and #Subscribe our #Youtube

#INDIA's NEW OIL is DATA Reliance Jio leapfrogs China Mobile to become global data traffic leader As of March 2024, Jio has a subscriber base of 481.8 million, with 108 million subscribers actively utilising Jio's True5G Standalone network. According to a press release, the total data traffic traversing the Jio network has surged to a staggering 40.9 Exabytes, marking a 35.2% year-on-year surge. This growth is largely attributed to the widespread adoption of 5G technology and Home services. Telecom has been a laggard primarily due to disruptive technologies but gradually the sector has become more profitable with some saturation in technology with Tesla's LEO (Lower Earth Orbit) remains the primary competitor to Reliance MEO (Medium Earth orbit) technology. Tesla's late entry in INDIA will keep RELIANCE and BHARTI AIRTEL on top. Till JIO do not get listed like JIOFIN, the value unlocking is difficult. https://lnkd.in/dgse2yVm

✨ Can BSNL Be the UPI of the Telecom Industry? ✨ We all saw how UPI revolutionized the payments industry, and I believe BSNL could be poised to spark the next big disruption in telecom, much like Jio did a few years ago. The telecom sector today is facing significant headwinds—frequent price hikes, declining ARPU (which fell from ₹173 in FY16 to ₹128 by Q2 2023), constant plan revisions, and deteriorating service quality. As per TRAI, India’s overall mobile subscriber base stands at 1.17 billion as of December 2023, yet the industry remains locked in a duopoly between Jio and Airtel. With VI’s market share now hovering at just 19.25%, customers are effectively left with fewer choices. Consumers are increasingly frustrated, but they lack real alternatives. This market stagnation creates a vacuum—and in business, a vacuum is the perfect breeding ground for disruption. BSNL has always had strong brand recall and a grassroots-level approach. And let’s not forget, BSNL holds 60% of India’s rural broadband market and already has 8% market share in mobile subscribers—so the foundation is there. Personally, the only thing that stopped me from owning a BSNL SIM was the absence of proper 4G. Now, with the rollout of 4G and 5G, I will definitely use BSNL as my secondary SIM, and depending on the service, I might even make it my primary one. While BSNL might not have the same massive impact as UPI, it has the potential to rattle the industry and bring about the necessary changes with its 4G and 5G offerings. #bsnl #telecom #4g #5g #jio #airtel #vi

Reliance Jio dominates the Data Traffic in India! Reliance Jio has made a remarkable leap, now holding a 60% share of India's total data traffic for the financial year 2023-24. According to their annual report, Jio not only led in data traffic but also recorded its highest average per capita data usage in March, reaching an impressive 28.7 GB per month. This surge represents a 32% increase from the previous year, with overall data traffic soaring to nearly 149 exabytes. Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, highlighted Jio's pivotal role in turning India from a “Data Dark” nation into a “Data Rich” one. Thanks to Jio's rapid rollout of 4G and 5G networks, high-speed internet is now more accessible, even in rural areas where last-mile infrastructure is limited. Jio's dominance is further highlighted by its extensive user base, which includes 48.18 crore subscribers—10.8 crore on 5G and 1.2 crore on fixed broadband. The company’s True5G network now carries almost 30% of its mobility data traffic, a testament to its advanced technology. Jio is the only operator in India deploying 5G on a Standalone architecture, showcasing its commitment to leading the 5G infrastructure rollout. As Jio continues to expand its digital footprint, the company remains well-positioned to drive India's digital transformation. Their deep fibre network has already connected 100 million premises, further solidifying their market share. Despite potential challenges from disruptive technologies and increasing competition, Jio’s strategic investments and infrastructure enhancements ensure that it will play a major role in shaping India's digital future. With the successful launch of Jio 4G in 2016 and the ongoing expansion of True5G, Jio is set to continue its leadership in transforming India's digital landscape. #reliancejio #datatraffic #digitaltransformation #5g #telecom #india #innovation #ecell #iitbombay

How did this happen? before 2016: ₹250/- for 2 GB Data ( for Airtel ) after 2016: JIO broke the norm💯 But was JIO totally responsible for this? Let's do a Jio vs Bharti Airtel Services Airtel had a large customer base. Reliance JIO had 'nothing close' to Airtel. JIO understood the market and the reasonable cost of data plans as technology improved. they understood that... You can't give 1 GB/day data in a 2G/3G technology. That's an overkill for that old tech and that's the same reason nowadays you are seeing "near unlimited" data plans under 5g🛜 The advancements in these new generations not just makes it easy to give faster internet but even "more" internet too. Thus, JIO can't be claimed completely responsible for the revolution, because technological improvement lowered costs as well. but, the undeniable revolution was that... Airtel kept on making 'conventional' offers. JIO made an offer SO 'good', that customers felt stupid saying 'NO' FOMO was introduced to customers by the 'free data' and 'unlimited voice calls' Which is a complete different story now... #jio #airtel #data #internet #business

#RelianceJio, India's top telecom operator, announced a 12-27 per cent hike in #mobiletariffs -- the first in two and half years, setting the stage for other operators like Vodafone Idea to raise charges. The company has also restricted the access of unlimited free 5G services for customers. "The introduction of new plans is a step in the direction of furthering industry innovation and driving sustainable growth through investments in 5G and AI technology," Reliance Jio Infocomm Chairman Akash M Ambani said in the statement. The company has raised mobile service rates across almost all plans. The price of the lowest recharge is being raised to Rs 19, about 27 per cent higher than Rs 15 for 1 GB data add-on-pack. The 75 GB postpaid data plan will now cost Rs 449 against Rs 399. https://lnkd.in/gjk6kbDf
