Heat pumps have been around for decades, but what’s changed in the past several years is that manufacturers have introduced technologies that allow the systems to work at lower outdoor temperatures. Standard heat pumps operate efficiently at outdoor temperatures down to 35 degrees Fahrenheit, but newer systems can operate down to 7 degrees.
