😍🚛 Another milestone in the electrification of freight transport? Yes, our colleagues at MAN Truck & Bus SE delivered the first eTruck to the Duvenbeck Unternehmensgruppe, a German logistics provider. The "Ultra Low Liner eTGX" has been specially developed to meet the load volume requirements of automotive logistics. 🪴 By 2026, Duvenbeck plans to supply up to 120 MAN eTGX units to Volkswagen production facilities, making plant logistics particularly climate-friendly. It will also be used for the first time at the Wolfsburg plant. "The use of MAN eTrucks is part of the goTOzero impact logistics program, with which Volkswagen has embarked on the path to consistently climate-friendly logistics. By loading cars vertically into specially designed railcars, this innovative method maximized space efficiency, allowing up to 30 cars per boxcar compared to the conventional 18, ultimately reducing freight costs by up to 40%. 𝗚𝗠 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 spearheaded the development of the Vert-A-Pac, implementing unique oil baffles to prevent spills, customized carburetors and batteries, and plastic spacers to safeguard the powertrain during transit. This pioneering approach not only ensured cost savings but also guaranteed the secure delivery of vehicles, marking a significant milestone in car transport efficiency. An exciting update on our transition to electric vehicles! 2-years ago we commenced a trial journey with a BMW IX3. At the start of the trial we “enjoyed” the issues of range anxiety and lack of charging points in key locations. This resulted in detours and stressful stops when we discovered the charger was out of order, etc. Despite these issues we persevered and as things have improved dramatically, we have invested in our electric fleet. The team are happy and we have another 1 or 2 to make the switch shortly. This has been coupled with our other investments in efficient warehouse lighting, electric fork-lift trucks, greater recycling and a wholesale reduction in our waste generation. #sustainability #doingourbit #electricvehicles #sutainablebusiness #cleandriving #caribbeanlogistics #import #export #procurement
