My Cycling Adventure in Italy: A Journey of Connection and Learning What Happened: 🛣️ Embarked on a 750 km cycling adventure through Italy. 🚴 Met a diverse group of cyclists Elizaveta Demyanenko and few others during one of the legs of my journey. How These People Helped: 🤝 Sense of Belonging: The group welcomed me warmly, making me feel like part of their community. 🗳️ Democratic Decision-Making: Ensured all voices were heard and agreed on common actions without imposing decisions. 🌍 Local Guidance: Helped me understand local customs and traditions. 🎫 Practical Assistance: Assisted in booking tickets, navigating travel hassles, and finding the best travel options. 🌟 Supportive Environment: Offered continuous support and encouragement throughout the journey. Where We Met: 🏞️ Encountered the group during a cycling rest stop in a small Italian village. Learnings: 🌐 Cultural Understanding: Importance of connecting with people to understand and respect their culture. ❤️ Empathy and Collaboration: Learned how empathy and mutual respect can lead to effective teamwork. 🌟 Networking Beyond Business: Realized that true networking is about forming genuine human connections. 🌍 Adapting to New Environments: Emphasized the need to adapt and integrate into new cultural settings. 🫂 Community Spirit: Experienced the power of community and collective support. Can you imagine a better race?! All your favourite sports packed into one day! Can't wait. 😍 Do I take continuous professional development in my area of expertise seriously? YES!! 😉 Knowing how it feels to be out there, doing all the stuff yourself, makes it much easier to convey the intended message to the target audience. You simply are a natural when speaking the language of the outdoor and sport tribes. Repeat after me: 💡 Translators: Don't just translate anything, translate what you love, you'll be happier (and your clients too). 💡 Sport brands: Don't just choose a random translator, choose someone who shares your passion, you'll be happier with the result (and your customers too). #vanslator #cyclingtranslator #cyclinguists

For newcomers, expat students, and anyone planning to stay long-term in the Netherlands, it's important to understand that perfection isn't guaranteed always here. However, being proactive in adapting to the new living environment is essential. Gaspar Rodriguez highlights some helpful hints and tips, many of which I strongly agree with: 👇👇👇👇👇 1. Make Dutch friends. And let them know you are planning to stay for a long time so they actually friend you back 😉 2. Join local clubs to build your community - crossfit, voetbol, yoga, cycling, whatever you are in to there will be a club for it!  3. Watch Dutch movies and listen to Dutch music - it helps!  4. Get out of the Randstad. Explore Dutch towns and learn Dutch history. 5. Don't try to be Dutch. You will never be Dutch. Just be yourself. #newcomers #Expats #netherlands

I may say #Denmark is my second home. I facilitate valuable connections for Danish and Dutch #associations, #clubs, #companies and #municipalities since 2016 (also Belgian). Always in both directions. Denmark remains a source of inspiration. Why: 1. Cycling Culture - we are both world class in facilitating mobility through cycling 2. Football - Danes feel at home in The Netherlands and vice versa 3. Water - we both grew up with water 4. Country of clubs - there's always a club around the corner 5. Embrace innovation and sustainability - ranked always in the top5 of most innovative countries 6. World explorers - key players in world trade, exploring the world 7. Happy people - we are amongst the happiest people in the world 8.
