It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the peaceful passing of TPG Founding Partner and Non-Executive Chairman David Bonderman. “Bondo,” as he was known to friends and colleagues, leaves behind a legacy marked by brilliance at every stage of his illustrious career, combined with a relentless quest for knowledge and a passion for music, sports, adventure, and conservation. David was a true friend to many and, above all else, a devoted father of five and grandfather of three.   A private equity pioneer, legal scholar, conservationist, and citizen of the world, David’s legacy will long endure with those lucky enough to have met him. Our deepest sympathy and condolences are with David’s family and friends during this difficult time.   We will miss David terribly, but the style he brought to the industry and to TPG resonates today and will continue to resonate well into the future. His curiosity is our curiosity; his willingness to problem solve the most complex transactions is reflected in the types of deals we pursue today; his global approach echoes through our global ecosystem; his uncanny ability to build relationships has positioned us as a firm known for its partnerships and relationships broadly; his appreciation for people of all types is reflected in how we build our teams; and his positivity and humor will continue to flow through all we do. We will honor David’s legacy by continuing to bring the same creativity and enthusiasm he brought to our work every day. https://lnkd.in/e7vjEGyv

It’s tough to hear about the passing of David Bonderman. Back when I was at TPG, I had the chance to help him out with IT stuff pretty often. Despite being such a giant in private equity, he always made time for a quick chat, usually with a joke or a story to share whenever he visited the new york office. He had this way of making everyone feel valued, no matter your role. I’ll always remember how much curiosity and kindness he brought to every interaction—it was inspiring. Rest easy, David. You’ll be missed, but the impact you’ve had on so many lives will stick around for a long time.

So many fond memories of Bondo. He will be jamming with the rockers he loved, now... A life well spent, rest in peace.

I will remember Bondo for many things, but his enduring kindness will be the thing that sticks with me. He will be much missed by many.

Bondo thanks for showing us greatness and kindness can go hand in hand. Your wit and curiosity enchanted all those around you, and I already miss you a lot. A true 1 of 1. 🤘 🎶 RIP

I am in a debt of gratitude to David for generously tutoring me back in 2007 on how to start a private equity firm. The wisdom he shared with me was invaluable and provided the roadmap I followed to the letter to this very day. Vale David you leave an amazing legacy for so many. A true industry ‘titan’….

David was an exceptionally humble individual. I will always remember how, at the annual holiday parties, he would often sit at the table with the EAs, mailroom attendants, and receptionists. He shared a genuine camaraderie with people from all walks of life, whether in the boardroom or the mailroom.

May we all be so lucky to leave such a legacy.

We at Tao Climate are saddened to hear of the passing of David Bonderman. His profound contributions to the aviation industry, particularly through his transformative leadership at Ryanair, have left an indelible mark on the sector. His visionary approach to business and commitment to innovation will continue to inspire future generations. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
