Empowering Gambian Women: The Inspiring Story of the “Mother’s Club” In rural Gambia, the Mother’s Club of Basse isn’t just raising chickens, it’s raising hope and transforming lives. Backed by the GIRAV Project, funded by The World Bank and facilitated by CORAF | West and Central Africa for Agricultural Research and Development, these remarkable women are creating a sustainable, brighter future for their families and communities. Their impact goes far beyond poultry production: ✔️ They’ve established a community poultry center with solar panels and boreholes, fostering sustainability ✔️ They distribute hygiene kits monthly to keep young girls in school and work tirelessly to prevent early marriages ✔️ They inspire change by teaching children practical agricultural skills and creating jobs for local youth. 💬 “Thanks to this platform, I can now take loans, open a bank account, and provide for my family,” shares a club member, highlighting the transformative power of #GIRAV. 📖 Discover their full story and learn how GIRAV is making a difference: https://bit.ly/3ZFGug3 #WomenEmpowerment #CORAF #GIRAV #SustainableDevelopment #ResilientAgriculture #Gambia #EmpoweringWomen

🌱 Making a Difference with UrbanFarm Africa: Transforming Lives and Landscapes 🌱 At UrbanFarm Africa, our commitment goes beyond sustainable farming—every seed planted is a step toward a more resilient and equitable future. Our innovative projects, like the Hydro Coop and Hydro Chick systems, are not just about food production; they're about empowering communities, improving livelihoods, and promoting environmental sustainability. We are proud of our initiatives that focus on empowering women and youth in agriculture. By providing tools, training, and support, we're helping to turn small plots into thriving farms, which in turn support families and communities. Women like Naledi from Limpopo have transformed their lives. Starting with a single Hydro Chick system, Naledi now manages a thriving farm that not only sustains her family but also contributes to the local economy. Our projects also directly impact child nutrition and education. By increasing access to fresh, nutritious foods, we help combat malnutrition and enhance children's learning capabilities. Schools like Khanyisa High School have integrated our Hydro Coops into their curriculum, giving students hands-on learning opportunities that teach sustainability and nutrition. Aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Our work aligns with multiple United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including: Zero Hunger (SDG 2): By increasing food production and reducing food insecurity. Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3): Through improved nutrition. Quality Education (SDG 4): By providing educational programs in sustainable agriculture. Gender Equality (SDG 5): Empowering women to participate fully and equally in agricultural ventures. Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6): Our systems reduce water use by up to 85%, promoting water efficiency. Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7): Utilizing solar energy to power our farming systems. Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8): Creating job opportunities within local communities. Climate Action (SDG 13): Implementing farming practices that help mitigate climate change. Each Hydro Coop and Hydro Chick system serves as a testament to what can be achieved when innovation meets determination. Our mission is to continue expanding these opportunities, ensuring that every community can thrive economically, socially, and environmentally. Join us on this journey of growth and empowerment. Together, we can cultivate a sustainable future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. 🌿🌍 #UrbanFarmAfrica #SustainableAgriculture #Empowerment #SDGs #InnovationInAgriculture #CommunityDevelopment #FoodSecurity #ClimateAction

Empowering the women of Homa Bay County through sustainable fish farming! We are proud to celebrate the incredible women of Homa Bay County who are challenging traditional stereotypes in fish farming - a field typically dominated by men in this area. Thanks to Rio Fish Ltd, an investee in the Investing in Women in the Blue Economy in Kenya Programme (IIW-BEK), 20 women groups in Suba South have gained the skills, knowledge, and resources needed for sustainable fish cage farming. This achievement is a significant step towards their economic independence. Diana Muthike Thomas, Angela Juliana O., Global Affairs Canada | Affaires mondiales Canada

The stoves from the stove rollout in 2022 are widely used, and women are starting to benefit from the microloans coming forward from this. However, the cookstove project continues to face some challenges, especially due to the political insecurity situation in the country. Despite these challenges, women who use these stoves were trained in their use and repairs, along with several other topics that will empower them financially and have a positive impact on the area and climate.
