A recent study on #remotemonitoring for blood pressure revealed no significant difference in clinical improvement between remote BP monitoring, remote BP monitoring with social support ("facilitated cheerleading"), and usual care. This emphasizes the complexity of managing #chronicdisease like #hypertension. Regrettably, #RPM and text messages are not a universal solution to challenges in medication adherence and #patientengagement. What emerging next-generation solutions are you noticing for #patient outreach and engagement? Share your insights! #clinicalsupport #digitaltherapeutic #dtx #nudge #peersupport.

"As National Diabetes Month gets underway, StrideMD is among the diabetes care providers, tech developers and drugmakers helping raise awareness of the condition. The Florida-based company has launched a new campaign, dubbed 'Do You Know,' that aims not only to provide information about diabetes but also to educate patients about how remote patient monitoring can help manage the condition, according to a Tuesday announcement. StrideMD’s own remote patient monitoring technology, Glutality, links up with patients’ existing continuous glucose monitors and blood glucose meters. The service monitors the devices’ readings around the clock, sending out alerts to the patient if their blood sugar readings leave a healthy range and alerting emergency contacts and paramedics for further help if necessary." #diabetes #remotepatientmonitoring #awarenesscampaigns

🔍 Recent research has revealed that factors such as arm position can significantly impact blood pressure readings. This raises important questions not just for hypertension diagnosis but also for the accuracy of various health measurements taken at home. As patients increasingly rely on home monitoring devices for various health metrics—such as heart rate, glucose levels, and more—it’s essential to consider how measurement techniques can influence outcomes. Inconsistent practices could lead to misdiagnosis, incorrect treatment plans, and overall confusion about one’s health status. This highlights the need for standardized protocols across different measurements, both in clinical settings and for home monitoring. Are we doing enough to educate patients on proper techniques for all types of measurements? How can we leverage technology to ensure accuracy and reliability in health monitoring? Let’s discuss how we can improve the reliability of at-home health assessments and enhance patient outcomes! #HealthMonitoring #AccuracyInMeasurements #HealthcareInnovation #PatientEducation https://lnkd.in/ekte8PpH

How much should the resting heart rate be controlled in patients with atrial fibrillation and coronary heart disease? Controlling Resting Heart Rate in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation and Coronary Heart Disease Study Overview Current guidelines suggest keeping the resting heart rate below 100-110 beats per minute (bpm) for patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). However, there is little research on treating patients with both atrial fibrillation and coronary heart disease (AF&CHD). Key Findings We analyzed 3986 participants from the AFFIRM trial, with 1522 having AF&CHD. Patients with AF&CHD often had a higher number of health issues including smoking, hypertension, diabetes, and more. They were also more likely to have surgeries like coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and pacemaker implantation. Patients with AF&CHD had a significantly higher risk of death compared to those with only AF. The study found an optimal resting heart rate of 70 bpm for AF&CHD patients. Lower resting heart rates (below 70 bpm) were linked to lower mortality rates. Conclusions For patients with AF&CHD, maintaining a resting heart rate under 70 bpm may be beneficial and could reduce mortality risks.
