Charging an electric vehicle is exactly equivalent to plugging in your phone at night before you go to bed. It is not the same as driving to a gas station and pumping in noxious fuels that are stored in tanks below ground for public safety. The beauty of electric vehicles is that you can charge them anywhere. All you need is that socket or that port to be able to plug into. So once people start to understand this, they'll have less reservations around, ‘how am I going to charge my vehicle?’ We'll understand that it's actually much easier. It's much more convenient than it was before – and that's truly what you need when you're looking for behavior change. #electricvehicles #zeroemissions

"If this concept — known to wonks as vehicle-to-home (V2H), or vehicle-to-grid (V2G) when the power flows beyond the household — grows from its current footprint in Baltimore, it could galvanize the broader transition to low-carbon electric driving. First, it could provide compensation that defrays the cost of owning an electric vehicle, which largely remains a luxury purchase in the U.S. Second, intelligent use of these batteries can turn the arrival of masses of electric vehicles from a grid problem into a grid resource." https://lnkd.in/gxE_Zj9t #renewableenergy #electricvehicles #gridstability

Electric co-ops should prepare today for electric vehicle fleets arriving in their service area. There's a proliferation of distribution centers in co-ops' service areas. As fleets electrify, co-ops will see electricity loads surge. Co-ops need to work early and closely with their commercial customers to get on the same page about when and where their fleets charge. Read how co-ops around the country are preparing for fleet electrification: https://bit.ly/4f9Pxg9

There has beeen significant progress in adding charging stations but as noted in this article” there are major challenges in making the switch to EVs in such a short period. For comparison, he said, consider the development of the current infrastructure supporting vehicles with internal combustion engines. The first drive-up gas station in the U.S. opened in 1913, according to the National Association of Convenience Stores—that was more than 20 years after the first gasoline-powered vehicles appeared.” Once again though we need to not lock ourselves into one fuel or power source but multiple ones and matching the best cleaner solution with the different transportation applications.
From community-based to commercial vehicle charging, meet some of the innovative companies that are helping ensure the next era of mobility is electric. We are proud to work with government agencies, private industry, and utilities to make sure everyone is ready for zero-emission transportation.

An interesting article from CalMatters on the state of EV infrastructure in California. But did you know that over 80% of EV drivers are charging their vehicles at home? Most drivers don’t need more than Level 1 charging equipment, which requires no upgrades. Simply plug in your vehicle like any other appliance and let it charge. In fact, charging at home is more convenient than public charging, meaning you can skip the gas station and power up while eating dinner, doing laundry, relaxing, or even sleeping. When we talk about EV infrastructure, are we missing a piece of the puzzle? #ElectricVehicle #CleanTransportation #California #WeAreMCE #NoPlanetB #CleanEnergy #Electrify https://lnkd.in/gah4q7t4
