This never-ending quest for more—be it accomplishments or material goods—has ingrained itself into our culture and the economy as a whole. The constant pursuit of growth and expansion has become the standard in a variety of industries, including sports and entertainment and industry. To advance, businesses are always looking to boost output, take up more market share, and maximize profits. However, genuine contentment continues to elude us in this never-ending cycle of acquisition and consumption. Similar pressures exist for greater contracts, higher ratings, and bigger audiences in sports and entertainment. While performers pursue fame and money, athletes aim to shatter records in their performances. However, despite the glamor and flash, the pursuit of frequently results in exhaustion, disappointment, and a hollow feeling. What we overlook is the fact that acquiring money or recognition is insufficient to bring about true happiness and fulfillment. It is found in living in the now, finding delight in the little things, and developing deep relationships with people. Let's confront the widely held belief that consumption and growth will never end as we negotiate the complexity of the contemporary economy. Let's work toward a more equitable strategy that prioritizes mindfulness, sustainability, and the welfare of both people and communities. In the end, what matters most is how we spend our lives and the influence we have on other people, not how much we own or achieve. Let's reorient our attention from pursuing more to cultivating happiness, and in the process, we will uncover the real meaning of fulfillment. What are your thoughts? Add your comments below. After 15 passionate years of work, the big NOTHING suddenly appeared. As of January 1st, I left Bugaboo. Off to a new challenge and full of ideas for this free period. Long hikes in the mountains, drastically improving my tennis rating, practicing the forward loop on my windsurf board… no shortage of plans. But my first tennis match ends with a torn meniscus instead of a better rating. Is someone trying to tell me something…? Now truly thrown back into the big NOTHING, I get a eureka feeling: what a gift, this time for reflection. Time to learn from a world in transition, to be inspired, to be open to new encounters. More time and peace for the people around me and for self-reflection. I feel the energy flowing and bubbling with still an open end. And that is special for someone who always has that end goal in sight. Over the past years, I have worked with multi-disciplinary teams on concepts towards a ‘net zero’ future. How can you transition from a linear to a circular business model? It proved to be a challenge to realize this within a company primarily focused on revenue growth. Therefore, I am now looking for an organization where impact is the main driving force. To fully utilize my passion, talents, and experience.
