In this season of giving, I want to give thanks to all of you who helped make our book launch for the Culturally Conscious Board so successful. Russell W. West, Ph.D. and I have learned so much in this process and have been humbled by the response. And now as we head into the New Year, I want to ask four things from this network: 1) Russell W. West, Ph.D. and I are seeking consulting opportunities with nonprofit boards to build on the principles in our book. If you serve on a board that wants to invest in its leadership development for 2025, please message me, as we are putting together our calendar for the coming year. We have a particular heart for all things related to higher education and international development. And if there is an opportunity to keynote at your event, we would love to be considered. Email us at [email protected]. 2) My particular strength is in convening conversations that contribute to the common good through trust-based solutions. If there is a question your organization is seeking to address and you need to bring together other collaborative minds, but don't have the time or people to host such a gathering, this is what I love to do. Please email me at [email protected]. 3) If you read our book, please write a review. We've learned those are super important and you can do that here: https://lnkd.in/efeeFYNp 4) If you're thinking of a holiday gift that will help strengthen organizations and nonprofits you serve on, please consider our book - https://lnkd.in/eiM6xeye Thank you and have a joyous holiday season, as you seek to bring good into our world. #leadership #governance #boards #governancematters #boardsmatter #boardleadership #culturallyconsciousboards

We hosted the first #RemarkableWomen2024 virtual meetup today - it was incredible to get back together with some of the many women I connected with in LA last week. As we talked about what we wanted out of our monthly gatherings, I noticed a few things I thought were valuable: + We want to learn from one another. One leader mentioned her work was #intergenerational - and this stood out to me. Our cohort featured women from their 20s to their 80s and we're all there to connect and learn. + We want to encourage one another. From celebrating wins like a license plate campaign and running the Boston marathon, we love to cheer each other on. + Relationships can spark with a short, intensive experience - but it takes intentional time to feed the flame. Don't underestimate the power of a company culture day or retreat... but always provide avenues to continue what you've started. If you're leading a group of people (for-profit, non-profit, leadership cohort, volunteers, you name it) - they are probably looking for these things... because they all serve to build trust, grow people, and ultimately, impact others for good. Build space for retreats, encouragement, and peer-to-peer learning.
