“There is a treasure of honors we bestow as a nation. Most are welcomed, some are accepted with humble reluctance, others are prized. But only one National award carries the burden of being an honor no-one wants. No mother or father longs for it, no wife or brother covets it, no child excitedly anticipates it.   There’s no cash bonus with this honor. It doesn’t come with a gilded trophy, or a burnished medallion, or a silky ribbon. You don’t get to refuse it, you can’t return it, it never expires.   It gives you only questions that can never be answered, and pain that can never be assuaged. It steals from you a lifetime of love, and replaces it with only a star. When one of our warriors falls defending our freedoms it means only one thing. Another Gold Star. Freedom is Never Free” ---- 25 years later, November 14th remains a tough and painful day of remembrance but it is important to understand that we can turn these tragedies into gifts, catalysts, or the spark that led to something worthy of dedicating the last 25 years of a life to and a passion that will never burn out. Now, mixed with the sadness of the past I share pride and appreciation of the present and future. BlueHalo represents that ring of protection around those we care about most. Not only to get our capabilities into the hands of those that need them most but to help bring those same people home safe who otherwise may have not have had the chance.
