It's World Values Day, and we’re proud to reflect on how we keep our core values and behaviours on track. Today's theme, 'Bringing Values to Life,' resonates with our ongoing work, which focuses on 'Delivering for you', as highlighted in our update at the recent Light Rail Summit. As our Managing Director James mentioned last month, the positive feedback from our members reinforces that we are delivering, with many asking for more of the same. Feedback suggests we are positively impacting our members and organisations across the industry. → Collaboration is at the heart of everything, from supporting our members and working with our functional groups to our ongoing work with the Light Rail Safety & Standards Board, Office of Rail and Road (ORR), Rail Accident Investigation Branch, and the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom, to name a few. 🚂 Freight Forum spring 2024 recap On 22 April, the Freight Forum convened as UIC's governing body for all freight-related matters. Frédéric Henon, UIC Director #Freight, emphasised continuity in knowledge development and management through working groups and projects. #Digitalisation, #DCM, #ERTMS, #DAC are not just buzzwords but the daily focus of UIC activities, ensuring streamlined information flow and development. Members can expect quick wins in #safety and operational efficiency, with updates to #standards and #training modules coming up in 2025.   🌍 Geopolitical challenges & sector's role Boglárka Mondvay-Németh, ÖBB, representing Freight Forum’s Chair Clemens Först, CEO Rail Cargo Group, addressed challenges from geopolitical developments and their impact on the transport and industry. Stressing the importance of the sector’s cooperation within Rail Freight Forward coalition and a unified voice toward decision-makers, particularly on #infrastructure development and regulatory compliance.   🎯 Work programme Upon learning about the progress and future actions within the Freight Competence Centres, Members confirmed the Work programme 2024-2026. Additional discussions focused on regional initiatives in Europe and the Middle East aimed at facilitating #modalshift to rail.
