The Chartered Management Institute cites 82% of managers have had no formal management training. A business wouldn’t think of expecting somebody to operate a complicated piece of machinery, to work out what to do, without adequate training. However, it happpens all the time when people who are good at their jobs are promoted into management positions, responsible for people, to lead teams, engage employees, manage their performance, without any appropriate management skills training. To be a good manager a business needs to invest in management training, to develop new skills, techniques and behaviours, many of which are critical in the changing workplace. That’s why we’ve put together a management development programme of 3 x half day workshops where leaders and managers will be better equipped to perform their jobs, giving them a ‘toolkit’ of management techniques and the confidence to deal with difficult situations. This is our ‘Managing in Changing Times’ programme as Sonya has outlined below. We’re running the programme bespoke for a number of companies over the next couple of months and will also be delivering an open programme, for managers from different companies to attend, taking place at our premises at stunning Denzell House in #Altrincham. Date tbc. Email us at [email protected] if you’d like to find out more.

I'm looking forward to our next Safety Leadership Training event with Norman Ritchie. We cover HOP and human performance, the basics of behavior-based safety, and incorporating those into risk assessments and investigations. We also look at criteria for better and more resource-efficient incident investigations and how to score your corrective actions to ensure they are solving the problems they are meant to address. By attending this class you will take away concepts and techniques that you can immediately apply to improving safety (and any other aspect) performance. #safetyleadership #performanceimprovement #hop #incidentinvestigation

Leadership is a mindset, not a position. Often, we wait to be asked to lead with intention — but in fact, we could and should be leading in our careers all the time! Tap into my most recent blog for Wake Forest University School of Professional Studies and learn more about how our clients Career Maven Consulting are doing good work on purpose!
Many professionals believe that leadership is something you wait for until the right position comes along. But this mentality can delay access to learning, career growth, and seizing opportunity. Tiffany Waddell Tate, SHRM-SCP, founder of Career Maven Consulting, debunks this myth and offers practical suggestions on leading from every seat. Tiffany and the Career Maven Consulting team offers Wake Forest SPS students career resources to demystify the job search process and cultivate leadership skills at work. It is important to revisit our leadership thinking, perception, behavior and action. This one course I took was with the intention of learning the self-leadership from a different thought process... Was happy going through the course and being a learner.

With a job as multi-dimensional as school principal, it can be hard to determine whether principals are effectively performing the skills, duties, and behaviors that enhance student learning the most. As explained in a recent article published by the Wallace Foundation, there are four behaviors that the most effective principals emphasize in their practice. 1. Focusing on instructional leadership when working with teachers 2. Building a productive school climate 3. Forging collaboration and professional learning among teachers and staff 4. Effectively managing personnel and school resources Although these behaviors can be difficult to measure, the Resonant Education administered VAL-Ed survey is a helpful tool that can be used to assess principal performance of the four behaviors listed above and determine principal overall effectiveness from the perspective of teachers, supervisors, and principals themselves. To learn more about VAL-Ed and how it can be used to assess principal effectiveness in your district, click the link below! https://lnkd.in/geTc6my https://lnkd.in/ebgBJHZp
