It's been a busy end to the year for our TMS-accredited practitioners! Dulcie Swanston shared this lovely post about using the Team Management Profile (TMP) with the executive team at Apadmi, who made good use of the various TMS support materials over their two days together. #HighGrowth #LearningAndDevelopment #HighPerformingTeams

“What are you up to these days?” We may be asked that on repeat, going places for Christmas, meeting up with friends and family? When it comes to what we do for work, it can be hard to describe to relatives or people who aren’t connected with our sector. Get too technical and what starts as a well-intentioned conversation starter can soon lead to a tumbleweed moment! We might have done an elevator pitch on a training course, or a Simon Sinek ‘Start with Why’ which can help. My go-to is “I use simple leadership science to help other people to do their jobs better” In the right company I might share my ‘Why’ - “I am changing the world of work one cup of tea at a time” I’d love to know yours to steal and share if you have a good one? Given it’s not a job interview, more an ‘icebreaker’ to use a work analogy, I might use a household name to bring my work to life. Or say I talked about some of my science on the radio as someone can then tell you about experiences they had with those brands or something they heard on a show, and you can build the conversation from there. However, a new love of mine is telling people about brands I have loved working with – ones people might not have heard of but have probably used. I’ve found it a different way make the conversation relatable and 2-way and for it to go somewhere - without what can sound like weird corporate word-play, or showing off. My last Ebbinghaus Nudge of the year will be perfect to show and tell. You may not have heard of Apadmi but they are fabulous. I had a great couple of days supporting their Executive team on a strategic away couple of days to plan the next stage of their ambitious growth plans. You will definitely have touched their products – or know someone who has. They make innovative apps for mobiles. So, in the past few weeks if you have bought a pizza from Dominoes (yes…), wine from Majestic (big yes…) or anything from Chelsea Football Club (definitely not). I absolutely love learning about new sectors and meeting new teams to share my take on the science of performance, sharing a psychometric TMS Development International Ltd this time, and how to make that practically useful to teams with a mission to do things differently in whatever bit of the business world they are taking on. For the brilliant team I met, here is your Ebbinghaus nudge! I hope it reminds you of ‘You on a Page’ and how that can help you work at pace – are those green and blue questions are being asked? And I hope a person we will not mention by name has finally recovered from their Spaghetti and Top Right competitive ‘loss’…Garry Partington Jasper van de Luijtgaarden Ken McPherson Faye D. Matthew Hunt Joost Ligtvoet Paul Brennan Mark Collin Gary Butcher Marcus Hadfield Adam Fleming I hope hiding the picture of at the end of me practising ‘that bloody dance’ in my room before Day 2 makes you smile too… #HighGrowth #LearningAndDevelopment #HighPerformingTeams
