All the president's watches… With the election today, many peers wonder how the outcome could impact the luxury watch market in the U.S. If tariffs on luxury items rise, high-end timepieces could follow suit.   Beyond the economics, however, watches have always been fascinating symbols of personal style for U.S. presidents, with none more iconic than the Rolex Day-Date in yellow gold, often called the "Prezi." This watch has been worn by the likes of Lyndon B. Johnson, who made it famous, as well as Ford, or JFK, who received an inscribed model from Marilyn Monroe herself.   Other timepieces have also received the “presidential treatment.” The Rolex Datejust, for example, was worn by Eisenhower, Reagan, and even President Biden, who sometimes also opts for a Speedmaster as well. Beyond Rolex, smaller brands like Timex and Jorg Gray have also joined the presidential ranks as well: Clinton and both Bushes famously choose Timex, while Obama wore a Jorg Gray 6500, which he was gifted by his Secret Service team.   More recently, we’ve seen Kamala Harris going for the elegant Cartier Ballon Bleu, while Trump made headlines by launching his own watch brand earlier this year.   This leads me to a question: Which watches do you think make a good “president’s watch”?   For me, it would be the Vacheron Constantin 222. While it demands a pretty penny, it certainly feels very presidential.

- "Why do we lose contact to the common woman / common man?" - "I don't know, but hey... look, got a new Rolex, it's limited." There's your problem.

Has to be the Rolex Day Date 😄, although a yellow gold or rose gold AP would be awesome too!

Post being president I'm pretty sure I saw Bill Clinton wear a Shinola. Not a luxury watch, but pretty cool to boast a US-made watch (yeye, from Swiss parts I know) from a US brand.

🕰️ The Vacheron Constantin 222 is a good choice, Tim! For me, it would be the Rolex Day-Date - and not just because of its nickname. Classic, elegant and timeless ...
