CEO of Omniose, Vaccines vs. Superbugs Enthusiast

It was great to run into my fellow “vaccines versus bacteria” colleague Jan Poolman at the World Vaccine Congress Europe #WVCEU today. Jan has recently moved on from Janssen and has started his own company, CreaBacVac, B.V, to continue his fight against bacterial threats. He has spent nearly 50 years in the vaccine field, starting with the Dutch RIVM National Institute for Public Health and the Environment, then GSK and The Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson, where he brought their ExPEC (E. coli) bioconjugate vaccine into Phase 3 development. Jan also moderated today’s excellent session on Antimicrobial Resistance & Bacterial Vaccines. Mateusz Hasso-Agopsowicz presented an overview of the recent WHO publication “Estimating the impact of vaccines in reducing antimicrobial resistance and antibiotic use” and there was a great panel discussion that followed with Stephen Taylor and Berit Muller-Pebody of the UK Health Security Agency and Marco Cavaleri of the European Medicines Agency. #amr #vaccines

Happy to see Jan at #WVCEU. It has been an honour working with him for the past decade as one of the bacterial vaccines heroes.

Great to see Jan still active in the vaccine space. That is great news for human health! I was fortunate to be on Jan’s team for the last decade.
