My latest interview, this time with Veronica Salib from PharmaNewsIntelligence where I discuss the need for rapid acceleration in "combination of scientific brilliance and advances in data gathering and data analytics" to advance manufacturing of new modalities. For example, we discussed the potential for Car-T cell processing to be automated and brought closer to patient treatment centres in the same way in vitro diagnostics have been automated. We also discussed the need for AAV gene therapy productivity to improve radically and rapidly: a similar journey to monoclonal antibodies but must happen faster (years not decades). Interesting paper where genomic barcoding is used to understand cellular diversity, and its implimentation in cell line development is considered. The genomic barcoding tool has potential applications in cell line selection - reducing resources and timelines needed for this stage.
