I visited Bangalore recently for The Today Club event, and before my trip, I thought it was just another city in India. But once I got there, WOW – this place is AWESOME. Why is Bangalore the leading startup hub in India? First, its multicultural population creates an adaptive environment that welcomes everyone from across India, making them feel at home. Notably, startups like Yulu , Flipkart , Rapido , smallcase , and Swiggy and more, have become industry leaders, with some planning to launch IPOs in the coming years. This rapid growth of startups is boosting the Indian economy and enabling it to compete in international markets. In this startup wave, Bangalore is leading the way for other Indian cities, helping them learn from its successes and avoid mistakes to achieve growth. Importantly, Bangalore is a hotspot for venture capitalists, fostering a thriving startup ecosystem where everyone seems to have either an idea to launch or the resources to invest. A city built on the talents and dreams of its people is destined for success. Bangalore's remarkable journey so far is a testament to this, and it’s clear that its future is incredibly bright. Holi is a big, colorful festival in India, full of life and joy. It's a bit like India's world of new companies, called startups. Both are full of color and challenges, but they show how being creative, strong, and happy can make things better. Even though Holi is a festival and startups are about business, they share a lot in common. Holi shows us how to be open and work together, breaking down walls between people. Startups do something similar by coming up with new ideas and making sure everyone can be part of it. People who start these companies are like the people who celebrate Holi. They bring new, exciting things into the world, making it a richer place. Holi also teaches us about winning over the bad things in life, which is a lot like what people who start companies go through. They face tough times but keep going, making new things that can change how we live. Holi is a time when everyone comes together, which is just like how startups need people to work together to do well. Absolutely thrilled to share my rollercoaster ride at the Startup Mahakumbh! 🚀 parachuted into the fest at 2 PM sharp (because who walks anymore?), and boy, was I unprepared for the magic that unfolded. India, you've been holding out on us! The place was buzzing like a beehive on a caffeine spree, with ideas zipping around so fast I feared they'd get speeding tickets. 🐝💨 I've connected with so many incredible minds that my phone's contact list is now officially a mini Startup Mahakumbh. I dove headfirst into a sea of stories and ideas, surfacing only to gasp in awe at the sheer brilliance around me. It's official: India isn't just playing in the startup league; it's aiming for the championship. 🏆 The shocker of the day? Learning from none other than PM Narendra Modi that Indian startups have filed 12,000 patents in recent years. Yes, you heard it right - 12,000! If patents were popcorn, we'd all be drowning in the best movie snack ever. Amidst the whirlwind of innovation, I managed to share a thought or two. Just had an amazing catch-up with Karan Verma at WeWork Gurgaon, founder of Faad Capital—one of India’s top angel syndicates. 🎯 Turns out we grew up just miles apart! Funny how life circles back. Karan’s journey is next level—quitting his day job 9 years ago with nothing but a name, testing ideas, pivoting, and now FAAD is a $40M powerhouse with 105 investments (and counting)! 🚀 We had a great chat and came away with some fascinating insights: 1️⃣ India is going all-in on deep tech—think defense, drones, and EVs! 🌍 Founders are targeting the global south (Africa, SE Asia), and with local gov support + investor backing, it won’t be long before Indian startups are selling to the West. 2️⃣ Investors are digging across the board—from early-stage to the current favorite pre-IPO secondaries. Everyone’s looking for that quick IPO pop 💥. Swiggy’s the belle-of-the-ball, and even SMBs are getting attention! 📈 3️⃣ My favorite: B2B SaaS. The big challenge? Cracking the GTM for US buyers. It’s easy to overbuild and complicate the product because of distance from customers and overstaffing the early team. 🛠️ The best solution? Get your co-founder or product lead on the ground in the US—no amount of SDRs or playbook consultants will fix the gap! 💡Prior to Rapido, Pavan Guntupalli failed in 7 startups, now built Rs 6700 Cr worth company, creating 60 lakhs jobs.   Let’s look at how. ⏩ Meet the man, Pavan Guntupalli, who always wanted to do something of his own. This man is from a farming family. Pavan failed in 7 startups and was rejected 75 times. However, Pavan's most useful approach during his difficult times was to "Never step back." With this determination, Pavan built Rs 6700 Cr worth company, generating almost 60 lakh jobs in 8 years, and every month they generate 1.5 lakh new jobs.   ⏩ Pavan is a brilliant entrepreneur from Telangana who completed electrical engineering at IIT Kharagpur. He was always filled with a great desire to accomplish something more. Pavan says that before launching Rapido, his 7 startups failed.   ❎ Despite failing 7 startups, Pavan persisted and noticed that large startups such as Uber and Ola only offer their services in major cities and on four-wheelers, while India's inner cities still have a lot of problems.   ✅ Furthermore, he discovered that approximately 20 crore bikes exist in India, not only in large cities but also in smaller ones. This sparked an idea in his mind. Finally, in order to address this intra-city commuting problem, Rapido was born.    ✅ Pavan Guntupalli, Rishikesh SR, and Aravind Sanka founded the Bengaluru-based bike taxi app Rapido in 2015 to address India's intra-city commuting issues. ⏩ With over 25 million app downloads, Rapido has become the largest bike-taxi app. ⏩ In 8 years, it has created 60 lakh jobs. ⏩ There are almost 50,000 captains in more than 100 cities. ✅ Pavan says, “Problems and challenges are like doors, welcoming us to explore ourselves, test our limits, and push our boundaries. If you’re crazy enough to dream that you can change the world and confident enough to execute the strategies, then you can turn those dreams into reality.” 💡Despite so many failures, Pavan built an empire worth Rs 6700 crore.
