Making a career change is a big decision. I've decided to change directions and pursue a career in data analysis after working for years as an accounting manager. My love of working with numbers, my background in finance, and my enthusiasm for finding "WHY" problems were the main factors in my decision. Making the switch to data analytics has been thrilling and difficult at the same time. Although the opportunities it offers are far greater than any initial challenges. I'm excited to use data to drive strategic decision-making, effectively communicate within organizations, and transform business and financial requirements into actionable insights by leveraging my background in accounting. . As I begin this new chapter, my commitment to learning new things and improving daily remains the same. I would like to connect with individuals who have undergone comparable experiences and who can offer guidance and encouragement. I'm also putting a lot of effort into building a portfolio of my work to show off my skills and expertise. Please tell us about your career transition experience and any challenges you overcame. #careerpivot #dataanalytics #datadrivensights #transferrableskills #datanalyst #careerconnect

I would never want to be President or maybe even PI of anything, I realize. Responsibility like that is really tough. I'd probably turn weirdly authoritarian. I always should have set my sights at a more medium level career-wise. Maybe we all should have? How would that society work? I wonder if someone might tell an interesting tale about it. Short synopses about fictional lands are fun for me to read, especially those not delving into things I find really unpleasant, like doom and gloom. I guess I like romantic comedies. They tend to be about people with middle-class careers. I hope middle class nowadays is at a healthy level and that there aren't people struggling. I wish there were a way to find out what has already collapsed into existence without collapsing more into existence. Is that what doing mathematical analysis of data is? I guess I would like to be a data analyst of sorts. Maybe "financial analyst" sets my sights a little high for now? I might have more to offer as a data analyst. I'd likely purchase data sets and not collect data directly, and I trust the prices aren't a big chunk out of people's paychecks.

Are you stuck in a job that doesn’t excite you? Let me show you how data analytics could change your life—just like it did for me! I started my career as an Auditor. My job was to learn about how the business operates and then test that certain things were working correctly. The purpose was to make sure that the business is successful but also to make sure that the business was the most secure from bad things happening like data breaches. I know this sounds really boring, and it was at times... UNTIL I learned about data analytics about 3 years into my career and realized that it could help me with my audit testing. Not only to make things faster, but I could also better rely on the results of those audit tests. I was able to make my work better and more fun, because if your a data nerd like me, you probably really enjoy programming too! 🤓 ****** 👋🏻 I'm Monica Kay Royal! I help professionals learn how to leverage data analytics to make their lives easier. If you're trying to transition careers to become a data analyst or save your business from its next data breach as an auditor, book a call with me! https://lnkd.in/gsxpnyWw #dataanalytics #skills #careers #coaching

Failing Forward: Turning Setbacks into Stepping Stones As a newly qualified Chartered Accountant, aspiring Data Analyst, and Virtual Executive Assistant, my journey has been full of learning experiences — some through successes and many through failures. But here is the hard truth: failure isn't bad at all but when you fell to learn and improve, that's when it should be a thing of concern. Any time I've made a mistake, it helped me to improve, whether from misinterpreting a data set, missing a minor detail in financial reports, or failing to set up a new work tool. Each fall has made me better as each taught me something real valuable: How to adapt and stay resilient The crucial role of double-checking in achieving accuracy The value of seeking feedbacks and learning from others. In my work, be it financial reporting, insights visualization with PowerBi, Tableau, or executive calendar coordination, I've learned to love setbacks as an opportunity to innovate, grow, and deliver value at an even higher level. So to everyone out there-yes, you-who's facing challenges, take a moment to reflect. What did the experience teach you? How can it push you closer to your goals? Fail fast. Learn faster. Grow endlessly. I’d love to hear how you’ve “failed forward” in your journey! Let’s inspire each other to keep pushing boundaries. #FailingForward #GrowthMindset #Resilience #ProfessionalGrowth #DataAnalytics #Finance #ExecutiveSupport
