We’re proud of the many talented women across our business, who we’re celebrating today, International Women’s Day. One of our Process Engineers is Eleanor Humphreys, who believes that equality and diversity that respects everyone starts in the Boardroom. She says, “The atmosphere here is welcoming, and relaxed and fosters a good culture. If you make a mistake, you can own it and people help you rectify and understand it rather than laying blame, which helps you develop and learn. The company encourages employees to seek help and develop their skills and understanding, without expecting immediate mastery of a subject, which is reassuring and encouraging. There’s a good standard from the top down. If you walk into the Tech Centre without steel-toe-capped boots on, well, you just don’t. You have to walk on the correct walkways, you have to park the right way in the car park. There’s good humour about it if people get it wrong, everyone’s keen to make sure it’s safe here. It’s about caring too, there’s a genuine sense that no one wants anyone to get hurt. There’s a good ethos here for caring for everyone anyway, even before compliance”. #InspireInclusion #InternationalWomensDay #WomenInEngineering

This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is #InspireInclusion and this brings to mind one of the biggest regrets that I have in my career and the humbling lesson I hope I have learnt. The really sad thing is, that this is an everyday occurrence and for the most part, I suspect that most of us might not even notice what’s really gone on. It was three years ago and I was in a virtual meeting with two women architects from Mulroy, an experienced architect and a Part 2 designer, both of whom were very talented. There were a dozen or so others in the room, all male, and we were exploring the layout of a baby-changing and breast-feeding facility in the toilet core that was required by the design brief. No, that’s not the mistake, although that’s worthy of debate on its own... During the debate one of the men directed his attention to our experienced architect and said, ‘perhaps [she] can go and sort this out because she’s a mum’. Silence. I was shocked, as I believe others were too, nobody said anything and the meeting moved on rapidly. That was my mistake. I froze, not certain how to deal with the situation. Should I have gone in for the kill or made reference to it with some back-handed humour? My brain couldn’t think quick enough, and I did nothing. The project manager changed the subject rapidly, I assume, to avoid making a big deal of it. We just moved on and nobody said anything. Afterwards, I asked both of the architects about it and I apologised for doing nothing; providing a safe work environment extends to more than making sure the photocopier cable isn’t causing a trip hazard. The experienced architect was sanguine. The younger architect summed up the conversation saying, ‘things are only going to get better when men start calling out other men’s poor behaviour’. I’m telling this story because it’s relevant to the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day and also to a whole-team piece of work that we’re currently doing. We are developing our office and business values which is being led by Sue Austin (inspiring business coach),. We are defining what ‘great’ looks like at Mulroy and debating how to achieve self-actualisation within the team. Listening to the discussions brought it home how important it is that everyone feels like they are the main character in their own life. The draft text we developed yesterday is raw and a world away from blandness. It’s setting the standard of action at a high level. Great looks like inspiring inclusion, and definitely not inaction. #iwd #iwd2024 https://lnkd.in/eQ85BKvd https://lnkd.in/eQ85BKvd

On this International Women's Day, I want to take a moment to honor and congratulate all the women who celebrate this special day. Your boundless strength, resilience, and achievements are truly remarkable, and you inspire us all. However, let us also remember that celebration and appreciation should extend to all human beings, regardless of gender. In our daily lives, it is important to cultivate a culture of empathy and kindness, where we uplift and support one another. Each day presents us with countless opportunities to show empathy and kindness, not only towards women but to everyone we encounter. By going beyond superficial gestures and genuinely caring for one another, we can create a world that is more inclusive, supportive, and truly celebrates the diversity of humanity. Within the business world, where the demands are often high and time is precious, we can still make a difference by displaying genuine love and care towards our colleagues, irrespective of their gender. By fostering an environment of kindness, we can make our workplaces thrive with positivity and enable everyone to unleash their full potential. Today, as we celebrate International Women's Day, let us also remember the importance of celebrating and appreciating each other every day. By embracing empathy, kindness, and support, we can create a world where every individual feels seen, valued, and cherished. Happy International Women's Day to all the amazing women, and here's to celebrating humanity day by day! #msadvocate #womenempowerment #womeninbusiness

We took our company photo for International Women’s Day today. We went with “Inspire Inclusion”, because I thought that was this year’s theme…. Inspired by that theme, I asked if we could send an email inviting our female AND male colleagues to join in for a company photo, which included “doing the heart sign” to camera, to be published on Friday. Yes we could! Then, over the weekend, I read in a post on here: the IWD theme is actually “Invest In Women: Accelerate Progress”, and the “Inspire Inclusion” one is actually from a marketing consultancy and nothing to do with the United Nations campaign! Oh no!! The first time I’ve taken the lead on my company’s celebration of International Women’s Day and I got the theme wrong!! I read the post comments… lots of eye roll emojis, debate about the merits of the (equally obscure?) United Nations’ theme. Anger. Frustration. Division. Us. Them. So, what to do? 🫣 Well, I said nothing. We went with the “Inspire Inclusion” one and took the photo. This is the only International Women’s Day theme, official or not, that actually inspired me to say “hey, if equality and inclusion for your female colleagues means something to you, we invite you guys to be a part of this too”. Men can be our most powerful allies. They are often “in the room” and can call it out if we’re not in a room we should be. They are more often in the position to help improve diversity and inclusion and are key to help us to really “accelerate progress”. I went with it, and you know what? The guys joined the girls and came down for the photo. Even though it was lunchtime. Even though it was raining. Even though they had to make a “heart shape” with their hands. It felt like we were in it together. This International Women’s Day, Friday 8th March, I can thoroughly recommend the “Inspire Inclusion” theme, but ultimately, just go with what you think will contribute positively to the fight for equality and inclusivity for women. Inspire Inclusion, not division. 😘 #inspireinclusion #internationalwomensday2024 #investinwomen (Own views)

Beyond a Single Day As we stand on the eve of International Women's Day, we at Klearcom reflect on a truth that resonates deeply within our values: the immense contributions of women to our society cannot, and should not, be confined to just one day of recognition. Women around the world have been instrumental in breaking barriers and leading advancements across every field, from science and technology to arts and governance. Their determination, creativity, and resilience have not only shaped the world we live in but also continue to inspire change and challenge the status quo. Yet, the tradition of dedicating a single day to celebrate these achievements, while significant, merely scratches the surface of acknowledging the depth and breadth of women's contributions to the progress of humanity. It is a reminder that the essence of celebrating women’s accomplishments extends far beyond a singular day; it is a continuous commitment to recognizing the invaluable role women play in driving societal advancement. As we approach International Women's Day, let us use this moment not just for celebration but as a call to action to honor women's achievements every day. Fostering an environment of inclusivity, respect, and empowerment throughout the year not only pays homage to the individuals but also underscores the importance of uplifting women's voices at every opportunity. Join us in committing to a culture that values and respects the contributions of women year-round, paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable world. https://hubs.ly/Q02nxFyQ0 #BeyondADay #WomenEmpowerment #Inclusivity #Respect #EverydayCelebration #KlearcomSupportsWomen

Who runs the world? Girls! 💪 ✨ Happy International Women's Day from Workplace Harmony! The campaign theme for International Women's Day 2024 is #InspireInclusion. We truly believe and have a workplace that cultivates inclusion – and creates space for each unique individual to show up as their authentic selves. Helping turn your organisations limitless potential into outcomes through reimagining: - Employer Branding - Employee Value Proposition - Employee Experience
We're nearing International Women's Day, and the theme this year is #InspireInclusivity, Sounds great, right? Except... who's doing the inspiring? And who's being included, exactly? Let's be real: the glass ceiling isn't exactly shattering from applause alone. It's time to stop doing loud and meaningless interventions and start doing the purposeful ones. This International Women's Day 2024, let's ditch the performative inclusivity and crack open the conversation. We're talking: - Unmasking unconscious bias: We all have it, but let's face it and dismantle it together. - Investing in Women: Creating women's stories and experiences. And building an impactful community of women - Building bridges, not walls: Creating spaces where everyone feels safe, valued, and empowered to thrive.
