Building B2B SEO & Content Strategies that Drive Action

SEO MYTH: "This project will take 6-9 months to see results and rankings." REALITY CHECK: This is often just an industry talk track to buy agencies time with a safety net. ::For marketing leaders and brands investing in SEO:: There are ways to make immediate impact on rankings, impression volume in Google Search Console, conversion rates, and organic traffic growth within the first 4 weeks. Your SEO partner should be communicating every single small win through the first 4-12 weeks. This is crucial not only to build trust but to get your team excited about the investment and its tangible impact. What to expect your SEO team to track and report: ⚫ Long-tail keyword ranking movement (or short tail if you're creating the category) ⚫ Net new keywords in the top 100 that could positively impact business outcomes ⚫ Previously dormant pages/content starting to show in analytics ⚫ Search Console data, trends, and learnings that help build a foundation to scale As a CMO or marketing leader, challenge the 6-9-12 month expectations. With current technology and strategies, we can do much better. I've seen small tweaks on established domains make significant impacts in 14 days or less. Don't settle for long waiting periods. Demand and expect early wins and clear communication from your SEO initiatives.

Just recently one of my posts for Teal immediately earned over 50 keywords and within 2 weeks accounted for a 7% sign up rate and 2% upgrade rate… I’ve also had singular articles pull in $65k deals. Yes, SEO can work immediately.

Tom, do you feel SEO is still worthwhile given perplexity’s AI search is stealing market share from Google?

Love this! I think content can be long game but it really depends on expectation/ goals from the start.

Unless it's a completely new website, it's fairly simple to get some lift from some low-hanging fruit in about a week (sometimes less).

Look at you spilling the tea... I've always been told that SEO is a marathon, not a sprint. It's reassuring to hear that it's not always a 9-12 month race, and that there are short term wins to be had along the way, Tom
