I highly recommend Think Faster Talk Smarter by Matt Abrahams. 🤩 Having enjoyed a few episodes of the podcast, and borrowed the book recently, it's an ideal read for anyone who has struggled with spontaneous speaking. 🙊 The advice to prepare for encountering the unexpected was right up my street. Packed full of helpful reflection tasks and handy models. A few snippets that I found really helpful: 🌟 Have a few handy filler statements up my sleeve for any pauses in the meeting or presentation. 🌟 Think about how I want to frame what I'm trying to say to avoid rambling and getting the point lost. 🌟 Be curious and ask open questions to take small talk to the next level. 🌟 Practice makes perfect, don't stress about when I fluff things up a bit, learn from it and move on. Onto the next read now! #speakingtips #communication #continuallearning

Lets talk. Not at each other, Or by each other, But with each other. My guest on this episode of The Eddy Network podcast is Robert Poynton, author of the new book, Do: Conversation. We have a conversation. We are sharing our thoughts with one another in an open, respectful, and curious manner. We are doing what everyone seems to know how to do, but don’t in places that are structured to achieve a particular outcome. There is something lost in those interactions. Robert’s book and our conversation is aimed at showing that communication is more than the distribution of information to an audience that is either not prepared to receive it or not interested in our self-important opinions. Conversation is the key skill for learning how to manage a world in dramatic change. https://lnkd.in/eBiiPFvM #conversation #business #communication #change #centerandperiphery #curousity #respect #networking

I'm always looking for quality content, not only for myself, but for the people I teach. Let's be honest - there is simply way too much information at our fingertips today. It can be daunting when you're looking for content in English to help you improve your language and communication skills. Well, I have good news! The One You Feed podcast is an excellent resource. The episodes aren't too long, and the host has a pleasant communication style. Transcripts are also available, so you can read and listen at the same time. And BTW, the title of the podcast refers to a parable about the two wolves in each of us. I posted something about this a while back. Maybe you've read it. If you want to become an exponentially better communicator in about 50 minutes? Then listen to this episode. One of my takeaways is this: Do you want me to hear you, help you, or hug you? 👂 🤔 🤗 In psychology it's called the matching principle, which basically means we have to have the same kind of communication if we want to connect. Enjoy the episode. Feel free to get in touch if you want to share your takeaway. https://lnkd.in/es6AamXF

Often, neurodivergent people have a completely different communication experience than neurotypicals. They respond differently to regulation, attention, and motivation, and often parents struggle when trying to improve connections with their kids. Linda Murphy is the author of The Declarative Language Handbook, and we present an encore of our conversation from 2023, with ideas on how to reframe communication and break down barriers. WHAT IF YOU FOCUS ON THE MESSAGE! Sometimes the least favorite messenger or difficult conversation is your next path or opportunity. One of the podcasts that I do listen to is 'On purpose with Jay' and today, while I was on the way for work, I listened to one of his interesting episodes: The people we meet in life and how to handle the way they treat you. 💡 One of the points that intrigued me was that we often prefer to only take positive feedback and whenever we receive negative feedback, we tend to withdraw or dislike the person who gave feedback, which is very natural, however we can actually change the perspective and instead focus on the message not the person who gave feedback especially if you either do not like the person 😊 💡 Some people open a door or path for us, focusing on the message not the person minimizes biasness in interpreting or using the message, you never know the message that came from the least favorite person is an opening opportunity for your next path. 💡 Accepting the difficult conversation/ feedback to reflect on your life, being open minded to appreciate the good in the difficult conversation. 💡 Sometimes, people mirror our traits which are both positive and negative but how we handle them makes a difference. 🖊️ Today, as I listened to this episode, it made me to think of a conversation I have had in the past or previously and how I could have handled them differently. #selfinprovement #openmind #selfawareness.
