I’ve always done things a little differently so it seems appropriate that I’d write about Sidekick Soda launching into Erewhon in California after we’d actually launched. I did plan a post about the journey - the logistics, FDA, 3PL and also distribution partners, but let’s face it the most frequently asked questions have been :- 1. “Why Erewhon” ? followed closely by 2. “Did you know the buyer”? So here you go. Why Erewhon ? It was a simple decision for Rogie and me. Erewhon have successfully cultivated a thriving, passionate and unwaveringly loyal community through providing foods and products that protect the health of people and our planet. They are a beautiful benchmark and admired brand for products that are good. Their 10 stores in L.A. are family owned and to be honest they felt like the perfect fit for a honey sweetened, real fruit and ACV soda from NZ. When I applied to be a supplier - through their vendor portal 😊- I crossed my fingers and put a big tick next to the printed out Erewhon logo on my vision board. It took several weeks to get the email that said “please send samples” and then a few short weeks later I got three emails that confirmed they wanted our sodas - I was shovelling horse poo the time. I jumped around the paddock, let out a few happy squeals, rang Rogie to share the happy news - he came back with “it’s probably a hoax”! Well Rogie Tomlinson-Gillies it’s not a hoax and Sidekick Soda now sits very proudly in the chillers of all 10 Erewhon stores. Aleena's Deliciouquiles Recipe and Instructions: Takes only one pan and less than the time it takes for delivery to get to you! So simple and easy I hope you all love it. Ingredients: Bacon Tortilla chips Your favorite green or red salsa Guacamole Cheese (shredded) Lime juice Sour cream Corn (canned or frozen) Lemon juice Hot honey Hot sauce Optional toppings: onions, tomato, beans, ground beef, nacho cheese, BBQ sauce, pulled pork Instructions: Fry the bacon: Cook bacon in a skillet until crispy. Remove bacon from skillet and set aside to cool. Cook the chips: In the same skillet with bacon grease, cook tortilla chips until slightly softened and starting to brown. Blend and pour salsa: While the chips are cooking, blend your favorite salsa until smooth. Pour the salsa over the chips in the skillet. Simmer: Cover the skillet with a lid and let the chips and salsa simmer together for about 4 minutes over medium heat. Make guacamole: While the chips are simmering, prepare your guacamole. Add cheese and lime juice: Remove the lid from the skillet and sprinkle cheese and lime juice over the chips and salsa. This will help create a slight simmer. Assemble: Remove the skillet from the heat. Add the cooked bacon (crumbled or chopped), a generous amount of sour cream, corn, lemon juice, hot honey, more cheese, hot sauce, and any desired optional toppings. Serve: Enjoy your Deliciouquiles immediately! Tips: Use thick-cut bacon for extra flavor. Don't overcook the tortilla chips. They should be slightly softened but still have some crunch. Add ranch, bbq sauce, siracha, whatever you want! Get creative with your toppings! The possibilities are endless. entry for Guy Fieri's one pan contest.
