🏟⚽ In the fight against gender-based violence, every member of society has a crucial role to play, much like positions on a soccer team. This visual representation demonstrates our collective responsibility to tackle this pressing issue. From the forwards like Families, Preventive Groups, and Schooling who drive change, to the midfielders like Public Figures, Community, Support Groups, and Police who support and bridge efforts, to the defenders like CEOs, Media, and Politicians who protect and uphold values, and finally, the Goalkeeper - Judiciary - who ensures justice and accountability, every role is vital. Together, with the Government as our coach, we can work towards a safer and more equitable society. Let's unite and take action to end gender-based violence. 💪🏼🛡 At Barcley, we are active not passive in the fight against gender-based violence. As a team we care about our social impact & the influence we can have on everyone we interact with. We love partnering with organisations & groups who also take an active role in improving respect, inclusion & equity. #GenderEquality #StopGBV #CommunityEffort #BarcleyConsulting #FootballQueensland #FootballAustralia #Matildas #Socceroos

💡 The Realities of Leaving an Abusive Situation As WGA Members, it's vital to understand the complexities faced by women attempting to leave abusive situations. Leaving is often the most dangerous time for a survivor—it requires safe planning to protect the lives of the survivor and her children, and can be more challenging when the survivor lacks a job or doesn't think she has a safe place to go. Our focus on addressing violence against women and girls is about more than just providing immediate support—it's about understanding these risks and ensuring that survivors have access to the resources they need to be safe and thrive. 👉 Learn more about the challenges survivors face and how our work is making a difference: https://lnkd.in/e7jqKf6A 👉 Comment below on how we, as a community, can better support survivors during this critical time. #WGA #WGAAddressingViolence #SupportSurvivors #EndViolence #CommunityImpact #WGAAddressingViolence

Matt Tyler, our Executive Director of Community and Systems Impact, spoke to Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) AM about the need to engage with community leaders including teachers, sports coaches and social workers in efforts to reduce and eliminate gender-based violence. A new survey released by Our Watch finds that four in five men surveyed want to change the alarming rates of violence against women, and that a greater focus is needed to help men and boys understand what action they can take to help end violence against women. Matt says that Our Watch’s new resources for people working with men in the prevention of men’s violence are an important part of equipping community leaders with the skills they need to make a difference: https://lnkd.in/g3y5ngMD #16DaysOfActivism

BGIS, together with our President and Managing Director, Dana Nelson are proud to stand united with Champions of Change Coalition to raise awareness and take collective action to end violence against women and girls because when organisations take a stand, it sends a powerful messages – that we care, that there must be accountability and that everyone should play a role in eliminating gender-based violence. This week marks the start of the annual 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence and we as an organisation play a unique role in addressing this issue, not just as a workplace matter but as a societal one. As part of the 16 Days of Activism the Coalition has developed initiatives like Playing Our Part, a comprehensive framework which seek to prevent and respond to domestic and family violence from a workplace perspective, specifically to prevent the weaponisation of products and services in cases of domestic and family violence. Today I attended more training to help tackle VAWG at York House in Twickenham as part of the 16 days of activism following White Ribbon Day. The agenda is attached but essentially we had opening introductions and speeches followed by lots of awareness training on the many ways people experience abuse. The various speakers covered #cybercrime which includes tackling and removing unauthorised indecent photos from the Web, amongst other ways people face economic abuse, elder abuse versus Domestic Violence and Domestic Abuse. We looked at control, coercion, isolation and the use of threats which abusers use as tools to victimise with amongst others. We had a talk from Refuge and also about "Honour" based abuse, FGM and homicide. IKWRO - WOMEN'S RIGHTS ORGANISATION gave an excellent and informative presentation with personal and lived experience for extra insight. It was quite stomach churning and lunch was gratefully provided. As an accredited White Ribbon UK Champion and Richmond upon Thames Safer Neighbourhood Board Business Representative, I found today's training very insightful and hope that the slides are sent by email as promised. #WhiteRibbonCampaign #WhiteRibbonUK #ItStartsWithMen #VAWG #16DaysOfActivism2024 #EndGenderBasedViolence #DomesticAbuseSupport #Homicide #DomesticViolenceAwareness #FGM #CoerciveControlAwareness #IKWRO #16DaysOfActivismAgainstGenderBasedViolence #Refuge #Hestia #HBA #HonourBasedAbuse #DomesticAbuse #DomesticViolence #TacklingVAWG #ElderAbuse #EconomicAbuse ALT: The Agenda for Violence Against Women and Girls Training for the White Ribbon UK 16 days of activism or action at York House in Twickenham today.
