The United States Congress, in a commendable display of bipartisanship and bicameral action after prolonged debate, took decisive steps to fortify the nation’s strategic defense in the 11th hour by passing the Reforming Intelligence and Securing America Act (RISAA) to reauthorize necessary provisions under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). Now we must thoughtfully make these needed authorities permanent to help prevent future lapses that endanger national security. https://lnkd.in/e3EWghkm

#MartialLaw #DoDDirective5240.01 #LethalForceAuthorized #PosseComitatusAct "DoD Directive 5240.01: The Stealth Expansion of Military Intelligence Powers in Life-or-Death Domestic Scenarios . . . . Quick Summary New provisions: The updated directive expands the circumstances under which the DoD can assist law enforcement, including the use of lethal force. Assassination explicitly forbidden: While assassination is banned, the new language allows for lethal actions under 'imminent threats.' Concerns about civil liberties: The expanded definition of 'national security threats' is raising alarms, particularly given DHS’s broader definition of domestic terrorism threats. High-level approval required: Any intelligence-sharing that could lead to lethal force must be approved by the Secretary of Defense, but Component Heads can act immediately for up to 72 hours before obtaining approval."

Reflection on the Protection of Civilians! In this new decade, gone are the days when the focus on the Protection of Civilians (PoC) was mainly limited to the protection against armed groups (negative and government forces) with the expected collaboration of host states. Looking ahead, some of the key areas in the doctrine and mandate of PoC, either advanced by the United Nations or any other organizations, should be protecting citizens from (a) weak institutions, (b) societal consequences of institutional fragilities, and (c) the illusion of protection.

ALBO wasted half a billion on the referendum for 3% of the Australian population. I am suggesting we spend another half a billion on "INDEPENDENT AUDITS" of government spending and QANGO spending across Local, State and Federal departments and identify where the money has been misappropriated (stolen) and prosecute all corrupt officials to the maximum sentence as they are in positions of public trust and therefore help to a higher penalty. Is there a leader or a government with the guts to do this? If I were leader I would do it in a HEARTBEAT.... #crooks #corruption #australia #politicians #publicservants #consultants #militaryleaders
When you take money from the public purse you are answerable to the public. It seems that senior defence, public servants and politicians have forgotten this…

Officially a thing:
‼️Internal memo for senior United States Department of Defense leadership to implement the HAVANA Act. 🌞Good morning Ashish Vazirani, when do you plan to implement the HAVANA Act for the United States Department of Defense? ❌10 MONTH WAIT: The Office of the Secretary of Defense directed your office, the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, to work with Mike McCord, the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller), to make payments to the hundreds of DoD survivors in June 2023. ✅Here is the memorandum for senior United States Department of Defense leadership in case it was misplaced. ❓The DoD is the last department to implement the law and take care of AHI survivors after the U.S. Department of Justice took action last week. United States Senate is starting to notice the delay.

https://lnkd.in/gtATR2JM # # actions and comments, are often brought about by community standards, no person has the right to tell another person what to do. You can volunteer, and in essence do we live in a voluntary society. Two men speaking their mind on a subject which has torn families apart, both here and abroad. Both men are elected by their electorates. Soldiers are all subordinate to the chain of command. They subordinate to Parliament, the good service person give of their life often to the pre mature morbidity of that service. Many thoughtfull service people are the best of us. Our laws embody the service persons. The military has military law. If the environment was made available to the military then those who are charged under 1982 NSW law reforms could be heard. There is no honour in killing and the is no dignity in or when dying. Observers are both witnesses and either support the service person both in and out of uniform. Privatisation has internally eroded the decisions in service, people can take this as an unacceptable inhibitor to service life, for the press and for Parliament. People have jobs to do. Some time ago a CDF put to a small group that he spends 70 percent of his time speaking to parliament about our defence force. Is it true, years later we stopped talking internally and guided each other both civilian and uniformed. Our leaders do lead, it can and often does come at a terrible price. End

S. 3589 This has been read twice on the floor of the senate. Soon to be voted on. I don't think/hope they will have the votes, but they are going to try. I read this bill. Here is the definition of who they are targeting: (Their definition) "PRIVATE PARAMILITARY ORGANIZATION.—The term ‘private paramilitary organization’ means any group of 3 or more persons associating under a command structure for the purpose of functioning in public or training to function in public as a combat, combat support, law enforcement, or security services unit" It's called the Preventing Private Paramilitary Activity Act of 2024. 1st, they are trying to make it against the law to protect ourselves from the government. (Back dooring the 2A) 2nd, I remind you it says: "Security services unit". That is your church security team. Am I reading this correct? This bill would make a church security team against the law. Is that correct? Read it yourself. The "man" is coming from every direction. The cost of voting stupid. MARANATHA!

The fourth edition of The Dallaire Institute for Children, Peace and Security's Handbook for Defence and Security Sector Actors on the Prevention of the Recruitment and Use of Children by Armed Forces and Armed Groups has finally been published. Huge congratulations to Ashley Cunningham for leading its development and production and to Tanya Zayed and Laura Perez for their invaluable contributions and commitment to revising this tool. Defence and security sector actors are often the first point of contact for children who have been recruited and used in situations of armed conflict. As a result, any meaningful effort to prevent violations against children must include a focus on defence and security sector preparedness. Defence and security sector actors must be educated through proactive, prevention-oriented training to take appropriate action to prevent or limit the recruitment and use of children. Our handbook helps do that. By providing practical guidance to defence and security sector actors, the handbook helps them understand the recruitment and use of children by armed forces and armed groups, deepen their understanding of their roles and responsibilities on the protection of children who have been recruited and used and develop their capacities to prevent the recruitment and use of children in these contexts. The full handbook is available here:
