Because by the end of 2030 they are going to make 30% of the workforce. I did a research to find out what is really going on with Gen Z. They want money more than anything else, because this is a generation that does not need for work to mean everything. They want to be paid fairly for the job they are doing. They do not need a purpose around work, either. We need to change our mindset around that. They are using their voice more than ever, and they need to be respected. When I give feedback to them, they push back and they want to have the safe space to say: “I don’t agree to that.” They don’t have a work persona and a personal life persona – they bring their whole self to work, so they are expecting for the company to be diverse, inclusive, and safe. Good Day, LinkedIn Network! One interesting thought that hit me recently is how we're living in the heart of the digital era. It is remarkable how the advent of advanced technology has left no room for geographical boundaries, revolutionizing our professional and personal lives. • We're observing a boom in telecommuting brought about by the pandemic. • Remote workspaces have become our 'new normal.' • Individuals are rapidly adapting to technology-dependent lifestyles. The world is at our fingertips was never more accurate than it is right now. We have the liberty to access information, communicate halfway across the globe, and work from our comfort zones, all thanks to digitalization. However, while this sounds overwhelmingly positive, it's essential to consider the other side of the coin. On one hand, technology has made our lives more convenient, but on the other, it has raised severe questions about digital over-dependence, privacy concerns, and the erosion of local cultures. • Are we genuinely adapting, or are we just becoming digital-dependent? • Are we surrendering our privacy for the lure of convenience? • How is the erasure of geographical boundaries affecting local cultures and practices? Let's not forget, every story has two sides, and it's equally crucial to comprehend both. Understanding the negative impacts doesn't mean we set aside all the benefits or stop utilizing technology, but it means we aim to strike a balance. - Can we imagine adopting structured digital detoxes to maintain our sanity amidst the digital chaos? - Can we devise strategies to protect our digital identity without compromising the benefits we draw from technology? - Can we combat the cultural erosion by consciously investing time to learn about diverse cultures that exist in our world? As enthusiastic as we are about this digital era, let's also strive to ensure that this digital conveniences don't rob our independence, autonomy, and diversity. The key lies in maintaining the equilibrium - embracing the positives of the digital world while mitigating its negatives. I'm confident that together, the LinkedIn community can constructively brainstorm to devise balanced strategies that help us navigate this digital labyrinth.
