💻The 3 types of websites you see everywhere (but two of them suck). Depending how well-versed you are in the state of websites today, you’ll probably notice three buckets of websites in the wild: 1️⃣ Bad looking, bad performing sites. These are sites with little thought, often derived from a template and thrown up quickly with no plan. Much of the web is like this, for obvious reasons. It's shocking how many agencies produce work in this category. 2️⃣ Great looking, bad performing sites. These are the proverbial “Behance” portfolio sites. Anything that can be animated is animated! Computers come grinding to a halt as they struggle to render gorgeous, but ultimately chaotic content. 3️⃣ Great looking, great performing sites. These are the Apples… The Cybertrucks… These are the pages made by serious professionals/teams who know what they’re doing. This is the world my agency plays in—or at least strives to! The problems with #1 sites are many and obvious. They simply don’t do the intended job. #2 sites are more insidious. What makes Apple *Apple* isn’t just flashy gimmicks—everything is in service of telling the story of the product. Yes, it’s beautiful. But it’s also lightning fast on all devices. These days, great digital design isn’t just about how things look. It’s about how things feel. And while many people can reach #2 sites with some effort, very few can get to #3 without hiring a firm who knows what they’re doing. What's your favorite functional website today? #digitalmarketing #WebDevelopment #FrontEnd

A local business recently sent an email to everyone on their list about their new website launch…but it was a miss for me. Here’s why ⤵️ I’m a mom. I’m on the go. I’m checking emails and messages from my phone about 95% of the time. When I got this email, I was so excited to check it out! As a web designer, who wouldn’t be interested to see a new launch?! 😍 I opened the new site on my phone. And I was immediately bummed. 😞 It wasn’t mobile optimized. 😭 A) I couldn’t read some of the text at the top of the page because the image background didn’t work with the text. (It was probably fine on desktop but needed adjustments for mobile). B) Images are squished. C) The font sizes are either huge and in your face OR so tiny it was hard to read. I could probably go on, but I think you get the point. Now, I love this company. They already have my business regardless because I’m a fan of their product. But…if I wasn’t already, I’m not sure this would have sold me. 😬 ❇️ My point here is…make sure your website is mobile optimized! You never know who’s clicking to your site from their phone. They may not be raving loyal fans of you yet. Don’t miss your opportunity! ❤️ Struggling with the mobile view or website issues in general? This should go without saying: If you want a better website (or app or product), hire a professional. I should not have had to write this post in 2016. It should not be just as relevant in 2024. Yet here we are. My feed is full of digital design professionals who have been laid off over the last year because corporate leaders think that what we do is not necessary for the business' bottom line. Well, it is. The sooner the non-'designers' learn this, the better everyone will be. If this post is still relevant in 2032, well, I hope I'm living off the grid by then. https://lnkd.in/exjPSSw3

I spoke to a big household name brand, and ADK user recently. They had 3 problems designing on Amazon, here they are and the solutions: 1) Problem: we can’t create new designs quickly enough. Solution: design systems, including templates, enable rapid creation of new designs when you launch a new product. Or want a new iteration of an old design. And instantly have the mobile version also done. 2) Problem: we can’t create at scale. Solution: a system allows you to create multiple wireframes you’re happy with, then quickly update the images and copy for each product line. And instantly have the mobile version also done. 3) Problem: we use multiple designers, in house and agencies or freelancers, it takes time for them to learn our setup before starting. Solution: a system allows anyone to immediately come in and create designs that are on brand, apply to multiple projects, in less time. --- Today I gave our designer, who's never used this design system, the challenge of figuring it out. She was able to create a full A+ Premium page in desktop and mobile in 26 minutes. On her first attempt. She thinks the next design will take her 15 minutes!! What does this mean? Ultimately, if you're not building out design systems for your Amazon business, your wasting hours and money every single week. Additionally, that delay is costing you further when you consider the poor conversion rate you might be experiencing now. #itsalwaysdayone #amzdesignkit

Why I switched from a strategic product designer to a Framer website developer ? Switching careers is always a leap, but moving from a strategic product designer to a Framer website developer felt like the right choice for me. For years, I focused on the "big picture" in product design: creating solutions, mapping user journeys, and focusing on high-level strategy ... But as I became more hands-on with Framer, I realized my desire to deliver clear, conversion-focused websites that clients can directly benefit from without the extended timelines typical in product design. Additionally, the potential for diverse revenue streams was a huge draw. I can create custom websites, offer monthly retainers, or develop templates and resources for broader audiences. This scalability lets me adapt to different needs while ensuring sustainable income. It also aligns well with client satisfaction, many businesses need a simple, high-quality web presence, and Framer allows for powerful no-code solutions without overwhelming them with complex processes. Switching has been refreshing; I’m now able to balance creativity with results, meet my clients’ goals directly, and establish a niche that’s both financially rewarding and professionally fulfilling.
