What happens when you blend the sleek thrill of F1 with the glitz and glamour of Hollywood? Daniel Ricciardo is shifting gears. This time from the driver’s seat to the producer’s chair. Renowned for his prowess on the racetrack, Daniel is now steering the helm of a new Hulu series, Downforce. Here's why this matters ↓ → Downforce is a half-hour comedy centered on the high-adrenaline world of F1 racing. → Picture this: an heiress takes the reins of a top racing team, facing tough decisions and wild adventures. → No, Daniel isn’t acting. → He’s the executive producer, teaming up with renowned writers from hits like Seinfeld and Silicon Valley to craft the show’s storyline. → Some are even drawing parallels between the plot and the real-life saga of Claire Williams and the Williams Racing team. Daniel revealed his enthusiasm at the Australian Grand Prix. Pre-production is already underway and casting will begin soon. Here’s what makes this a big deal: ↳ Reflects the surging popularity of F1 in the U.S. ↳ Daniel’s hands-on racing experience promises authenticity. His mission? To meld humor with the authentic, high-stakes drama of racing. Downforce is set to be a must-watch whether you’re an F1 aficionado or just love a good sitcom. This will be incredible for the Formula 1 brand on a global scale. Having a Hollywood film bring a heightened sense of the drama of F1 to mainstream audiences will undoubtedly increase their own audience. Just like when Top Gun led to an increase in Americans signing up to the Navy, this will bring American audiences to F1, and increase visibility on a global scale through that Hollywood lens. The reality of F1 is that it isn’t the most exciting sport in the world - in my opinion. But their marketing and content creation outside of the racing continues to increase their audience. Daniel Rossomondo - could we see a Hollywood film about MotoGP™ on the cards at some point? MotoGP is definitely the more exciting sport. https://lnkd.in/e5Qnq8yb

Is Formula 1 the biggest sport in the world, commercially? With the 24 races, 10 teams and 20 drivers, sharing over 150 partners it would be hard to argue against "yes" to the above question. It would also be hard to argue that the takeover of F1 by Liberty Media and the following "Drive to Survive" series on Netflix hasn't contributed to the commercial growth in the sport over the last 5-7 years, that has been supercharged by the growth in the US The CNBC video below provides a great insight into the commercial landscape of Formula 1 and thought process behind a number of teams on what they look for in a partner but also, the importance of a solid activation plan once the rights have been secured. I think James Vowles said it best, "I'm not looking for sponsors, I'm looking for partners", and there is a subtle, but significant different between the perception of those two words. If you have 15 minutes and are interested in the commercial side of F1, it's well worth a watch! #formula1 #commercial

Another year of Formula E is in the books, but did the 2023/24 season live up to expectations? There was a dramatic finale on-track in London as Pascal Wehrlein was crowned champion, but the off-track picture has been less clear this season: 💰 How will Liberty Global's takeover affect the series? 📺 Did Formula E strike the right balance between FTA and pay TV? ♻ Why it should make more noise about its considerable strides in sustainability this season #SportsBiz #FormulaE https://lnkd.in/eVAvKmN4

The March "tea tray", the Tyrrel 6-wheeler (or "Todoroky special", for us nerds 😁), the wingless Arrows, the Williams walrus*... What all these cars have in common? They were weird, atypical, strange. They were experiments that made the F1 fans shout: "What the h&ll is that?!?". They were not (ot only mildly) successful, and at the end these development directions were abandoned, but they.are still there in the history books and in the eyes of the true passionate fans. They were the image of a F1 that does not exist anymore: a F1 that had the courage to think outside the box, to experiment, to dare, to bring to the track something that nobody had ever seen before. Even if on the long run it was not a winning choice. Today, this is gone. Budget caps, test limitations, design restrictions, all made in the name of "equalizing the odds" among richer and poorer teams, but finally having the only effect to neuter the creativity and kill the revolutionary ideas. I wish we could come back to these times, where the show and the wonder were not only to see who wins, or to create more TV-watchable contents, but also to see something incredible coming on the track. ‐----------- * Note for Italians: this solution was created by a brilliant Italian engineer, Antonia Terzi, who also happened to be a woman, showing that motorsport is not a boys' club and that if you are brilliant and prepared, the rest does not count. As a role model, I would exchange one Antonia Terzi for one thousand Cortellesi.

Business lessons from Lando Norris and his fantastic Miami Grand Prix win over evil Max Verstappen… 🏁 Be really really good at driving fast. Many a deal is done whilst driving at 230mph. 🏁 Know when to press the accelerator - when there’s a challenge to overcome you can overtake it. 🏁 Have a lot of curly hair . When you have to recruit talent, curly hair will make you the no1 choice. 🏁 Grow up in Glastonbury. The ability to live near a major music festival will make you world class. 🏁 If you can be a young, fit and good looking multi millionaire F1 driver it puts you at a massive advantage over older slower uglier poorer and fatter competitors. 🏁 Be named after a Star Wars goodie. The force will always be with you when it comes to winning deals I thought best to get in early with these ‘business lessons’ so that hopefully those coaches, influencers and personal branders thinking about doing a ‘lessons from Lando Norris’ post will read this and realise how totally ridiculous they sound. PS - we sort F1 VIP packages & travel to all F1 Grands Prix where you can cheer on Lando, Lewis and even evil Max if you are so inclined. - DM me 🏁🥂 Obviously I’m going to shamelessly promote my stuff on the back of this. I’m not a plonker. #landonorris #f1

This article is quite special as it goes beyond the scopes of Formula 1 reportage. This year there have been many track invasion incidents during the season. As a fan, I understand the fascination of wanting to be close to my favorite sports person. But at the same time, what fans forget is that, their acts, which also include throwing things on tracks jeopardize the driver's safety. track invasion or just the action of fans slipping through the barriers happen in sports like cricket too. So I hope this article resonates with all sports fans who have experienced watching the sport from the ground or track. To know what Las Vegas has done differently to make sure track invasion does not get in the way of their high profile race, please read my article. The article is link is shared in the comment section. #formula1 #motorsports #racing #sports #tracksafety
